School Sucks

Pyxis

I stared ahead blankly as Orion droned on about how to balance a chemical reaction. Ugh. We were at a hospital. Why did we have to learn things here?

Oh right. Cause the school curriculum said we had to. I fidgeted around with my folder, then glanced over at the girl next to me. She had golden-blonde hair that reached down almost to her waist, and the prettiest pair of blue eyes I had ever seen.

She was taking notes, the tip of her tongue stuck out a bit as she focused on her writing. I remember how she used to do that.

Oh, Cygnus. She probably didn't remember me. That was my fault though. When I was first admitted here, I was placed in her group, and we became fast friends. We would both have mood swings, and would somehow balance each other out. I had a huge crush on her, needless to say.

Then I got transferred to a new group, before I got to confess to her. Sure, I would see her in the halls sometimes, but she would always be talking to one of her friends. And even when she wasn't, she would brush past me, never sparing a second glance.

I didn't blame her. After all, it was me who asked for the transfer.

Sagittarius

I looked around the classroom, trying not to fall asleep. Honestly, why did we have to learn this stuff. It was so boring.

Stupid ADHD. Just let me focus for once.

I looked down at my folder, the green surface smooth except where I had scrawled the big letters SCIENCE on it. The corners of the folder were already slightly worn, a result of me constantly fidgeting and rubbing them.

I looked up again, my eyes straying around the classroom. I glanced around at my classmates. First was the two sitting in the front left. Pyxis and Cygnus. Cygnus was actually paying attention, taking some notes, while Pyxis not-so-discreetly stared at her. I grinned. Someone obviously had a crush.

To their right was Gemini and Scorpio. Gemini wasn't moving, he was sitting up straight but his arms didn't move. Scorpio wasn't paying attention at all, he twirled a pencil in his right hand while he propped his head up with his left.

And to the very right were Virgo and Pisces. Virgo was watching the teacher avidly and taking notes, occasionally wiping his hand off on his shirt. Pisces, on the other hand, was staring off into space, though his lips were pressed together in a look of concentration.

In the back row to the very left, sat Aquarius and Libra. Aquarius had fallen asleep, her head on top of her arms. Libra nudged her, trying to get her to wake up so that they wouldn't get in trouble.

To our left was Leo and Capricorn. Capricorn was paying attention, occasionally taking notes. Leo, however, was clearly annoying her, he kept on whispering something to her and laughing as Capricorn's expression would change. Capricorn did not look pleased.

Then on the very right were Taurus and Cancer. Those two had completely ignored Orion, and were chatting quietly. Orion didn't seem to notice. Then Taurus said something, and Cancer began to laugh. Taurus smiled, giving a quick glance around the room to see if anyone had noticed. Our eyes met and she gave a quizzical look. I just gave a small smile and turned back to the front of the room.

What an interesting class.

Virgo

I stared at the board, focusing on what Orion was saying. I tried to keep my attention off of the desk, and how dirty it was from others sitting in it, with no avail.

I wiped my hand off on my shirt, feeling a wave a relief rush through me as I convinced myself I was getting rid of the germs. That I would be clean.

I looked down at the folders in front of me. Oh no. The purple folder was slightly out of place. I nudged it over a tad, then smiled as the the folders were aligned perfectly.

I rubbed my hand on my shirt again, and pushed my glasses up.

"Now, we can see that there are two oxygen atoms on this side, and four on the other. The rule clearly states that the amount should be the same. What should we do now?"

I sighed. This was too easy. I looked around, seeing that only a couple of people had put their hands up.

"Yes, Capricorn?"

"You have to put a two in front of the H2O2, so the amount of oxygen atoms double." she said.

I nodded in approval. This girl knew her chemistry.

Orion smiled, and nodded as well. "Good job, Capricorn. But now, there are four hydrogen atoms on the right and only two on the left. What should we do now?"

I raised my hand.

"Yes, Virgo?"

"Put a two in front of the H2. That will make it four."

Orion smiled again. "That's right, Virgo. Now, there are an equal amount of each atom on either side of the equation. The equation is now balanced. Class, did you get all that?"

A few half-hearted nods answered back.

"Ok then, class. That's all we have for science today. Please put that folder away, and we are going to move on to history."
