-Two Months Later-
Max's POV:
Two months. Two months is all it takes for me to lose my freaking sanity.
The past few weeks have all been dedicated to getting settled into the Mariot. They gave me a bedroom near the back and it looks just like the one in Jason's dream; warm caramel walls and ceiling and the floor a light wood. There's a bed in the back next to a small nightstand holding- of course- the book of Mogadorian Progress, and a black dresser in the other corner. There are a couple of sharpened pencils on it and I look around at the blank walls, devoid of any pencil drawings.
I walk to the dresser, grab all three wood pencils and snap them all in half.
I sigh and throw them back onto the dresser, watching the wood roll around. I bite my lip and fiddle with a bright red curl. I'm not sure what to do anymore. Setràkus Ra said that I'd be getting my tattoos soon, and I think that that's a bunch of bull. I'm okay with my Garde symbol being tattooed on me, but Mogadorian symbols? I don't care if I'm going to be his daughter soon, I'm not having that schist permanently inked on me, and I know exactly what to do for that.
There's a soft knock on my door, as if on cue. I look up and sigh in relief. I walk to the door and swing it open, looking up at the young Mogadorian staring back down at me.
I don't say anything to him. I just grab his wrist and pull him into my room, closing and locking the door behind him. I turn around to face him and he smiles warmly at me.
"You sure about this?" He asks me, setting his black bag onto my bed. He opens it and lying there are a bunch of tattoo instruments. I nod my head and sit down on the bed.
"Positive." I reply, slightly smirking. He takes a deep breath before pulling out the ink and needle. He puts everything in place and looks back up at me. I lift my black t-shirt sleeve when he raises the needle to my arm.
"Okay. All the symbols?" He asks me, the tattoo needle an inch away from my skin.
"Connected." I add, nodding my head. He gives me a small smile before starting.
It stings at first, but I quickly get used to it. He draws nine symbols starting from my right shoulder and going down to my right wrist. Nine symbols of the nine Loric Garde. I would do ten if Ella was given one, but for now it's just nine. The first one on my shoulder is One's symbol, then mine, Hannu's, John's, Five's, Six's, Marina's, Eight's, and finally Nine's on my wrist, and all the outer circles are connected together like chains.
When he's finally done, Finnian lifts the tattoo needle from my arm and cleans it up. He doesn't have to, since I'm also doing my left arm with another symbol. He cleans up my new Garde tattoos and jumps to my next arm.
"Okay, now water. With a trident." Finn repeats, his brows knit together in concentration as I lift the other sleeve over my left shoulder. I nod my head and he takes another deep breath before continuing our little tattoo spree.
A bunch of water, an ocean- a very realistic one may I add, gods Finn is good- under a big trident. My father, Poseidon's, the Greek god of water and the sea, symbol.
When Finn's finally done, both my arms are red and sting, but it's worth it. Both tattoos look amazing, and both resemble the things I hold closet; the Lorics and the demigods. And I left both of them.
I can't think about that right now. The past two months have been dedicated to wallowing in despair and wasted tears. I'm done with that. I love and miss them, of course, and I want to see them again so badly, but I have to worry about other things. Becoming Setràkus Ra's daughter and the next Mogadorian leader- the 'heir to the great throne' as Setràkus Ra calls it- and Octavian courting me soon. Hopefully none of those have to happen. I'll live with the Mogs, but do I seriously have to be adopted by Setràkus Ra? That's a little too extra, even for the Mogs, the most extra species under the gods, monsters and demigods.
"Thanks, Finn." I thank him once we're finished cleaning everything up.
"No problem, Max. And I brought you this, so the other Mogs don't see them, and so you don't have to wear a Mogadorian coat." Finn tells me, handing me a gray sweater, identical to the one he's wearing.
"Thank you." I reply, taking the sweater from him and putting it on. It fits me perfectly and I don't even want to know how Finn knew my size. I'm not going to bother asking.
He smiles down at me, grabbing his bag again. Ever since we moved into the Mariot, he's been the only one I've talked to. He either comes to my room or I go to his. This emo boy painted his walls and ceiling black, but you can barely see it under all his drawings anyways.
"So, I heard a little something about earth." Finn tells me, a small smirk appearing on his lips. My ears perk and my heart beats ten times quicker.
"What? What is it?" I ask him frantically. He chuckles and smiles.
"Once every year, we're going to go down to earth for more supplies. Food, water, clothes." Finn explains and my breath catches in my throat.
"Seriously? You're not pranking me, are you?" I ask him and he shakes his head no.
Oh my gods. Once every year, and it's going to take a bit longer than a day to gather supplies for a whole year and put it into the ship. That'll take at least three days, max (not a pun. Maybe).
I can see Leo, Percy, Conrad, Nine, Jason, Ivan, John, Six, Annabeth, Reyna, Calypso, Nico and everyone else every year. This is amazing. This is freaking perfect. I haven't talked to Setràkus Ra about the whole 'college' thing with Leo yet, but I'll get to it as soon as I see him again.
Schist, why not?
"I have to talk to Setràkus Ra about something." I tell Finn, making sure all the tattoos on my arms are covered by the sleeves of the sweater.
"Okay. Good luck." He replies sarcastically. I roll my eyes at him and push him out of my room, walking out with him. He flashes me one last smile before walking back to his room. I take a deep breath and look around the ship. I've barely come out of my room since we came here, and now I have to wander around it to find Setràkus Ra. Great.
But I continue forward anyways.
