Chapter 5

"Stay close to the ground? What is he talking about?" I was just as confused as peter was. I don't know what my dad means by staying close to the ground. Me and peter got closer as we saw that there was a purple rock connected to something, ned called which was perfect timing, "Hey, we're on our way back." He says, "Actually, I was calling to say maybe you guys shouldn't come. Listen." I could hear flash screaming that nickname he gave peter and he was talking about my dad too, "Sorry peter and sorry Y/N. I guess we're still losers." I could tell peter was upset, "I'll see you tomorrow." He said, "I'll see you tomorrow in school." Ned said. He hung up and picked up the purple rock we took it back with us so that way we be able to figure out what it was.

In the middle of the night

I have the same exact dream like I did not long a go but this dream was different. It was with the guy with the glowing green eyes and he took me, as much as i wanted to have peter comfort me, i just didn't want to wake him up. I laid back down and eventually fell asleep.

At school

We were in sharp class and peter was banging on the rock with a hammer  like trying to break rock, "Hey, thanks for bailing on me." Ned says, "Yeah well, something came up." He said, "What is that?" I passed peter the screwdriver, "I don't know. Some guy tried to vaporize us with it." I was trying to break the metal that it's connected to and it was slowly working, "Seriously?"
"Yeah." I managed to disconnect the wire, "Awesome!" I hit ned's arm, "I mean, not awesome. Totally uncool of that guy. So scary." I laughed a little, "Well I think it's, a power source." Said peter, "Yeah, but it's connected to all these microprocessors. That's an inductive charging plate. That's what I use to charge my toothbrush."

"Whoever's making these weapons is combining alien tech with ours." I say, "That is literally the coolest sentence anyone has ever said. I just want to thank you for letting me be a part of you guys journey, into this amazing--" Peter banged on the side of the metal and it caused the rock to fly out, "Keep your fingers clear of the blades." The man wasn't even paying any attention to us, "I gotta figure out what this is and who makes it." Peter said, "We'll go to the lab after class and run tests." I looked my phone with no texts from dad. I put my phone back, "Let's do it." Ned and peter did their secret handshake which I didn't know how to do so I just sat back and watched.

"First, we put the glowy thing in the mass spectrometer." I love the nicknames ned gives. "We gotta come up with a better name than glowy thingy." I said, "You're right." Ned admits. We were walking in the hallway when we saw two guys but those two guy weren't just any guy, that was the guys from yesterday. We ran the other way but ned stood in the hallway. "Come on!" I said trying not to make too much noise, "That's one of the guys that tried to kill us." Peter said, "What!?" Ned said. "Yeah. We gotta get out of here." I was trying to walking away but peter took my hand. "No, no, no. I gotta follow them. They can lead me to the guy that dropped us in the lake."

"Someone dropped you in a lake!?" he didn't want to tell him that that part because we know he probably freak out. "Yeah it wasn't good." Peter said, I tried grabbing his hand but he wouldn't let me. "Peter!" I whispered, "No just stay there." He's slowly snuck down the hall. I know this means I have to go after him. "Ned stay here, I'll be back."

I followed Peter and he was shocked to see that i followed him, "Can you imagine what the boss would say if he knew where we were?" One guy said. Me and peter got closer, "It's saying there was an energy pulse here." The other guy said, "There's no sign of the weapon. And even if it was here, now it's gone." Guy number one said. "So are we." Guy number two says. Before the guy can even see us peter held me under table before the guy could spot us. Peter placed a tracker on one of
the guys shoes.
