They pull up to Jacob's house. "Here it goes," Jacob says, he breathes deeply and gets out of the car, Troye following closely behind.
They get to the door and stop, "I can't do it." Jacob says.
"Yes you can." Troye comforts him, "look at me." Troye says as he pulls Jacob's chin to look at him in the eyes. "You know, if you're not ready to do it today you can do it another time, you don't have to rush it."
"No." Jacob says, shaking his head, "I want to do it." Troye stands up on his tippy toes to kiss Jacob's lips. Slowly and sweetly. When they break apart Jacob grabs Troye's hand and opens the front door.
When they enter the kitchen Jacob's mother is there, "Hi boys," her smile drops when she sees the two holding hands.
"Mum, I have something to tell you."
"Okay, what is it?" She asks sternly, scared of what her son is about to do.
Jacob takes a deep breath in and Troye gives his hand an encouraging squeeze. "Mum, I'm..... I'm gay." He says proudly, "I like boys and Troye is my boyfriend." Troye smiles at him, he liked that word, boyfriend. "And nothing you're going to do or say us going to stop me from being who I am! And if you really loved me you would accept me."
She looks at them, her face with no expression at all. Silence fills the air, for a while we just stand there, Jacob not breaking eye contact with his mother.
"Leave." She says.
"W-What?" Jacob says, shocked.
"Get out!" She yells, "You are not my son, now get out of my house you fags. Take your stuff and leave!"
Jacob glares at his mother, "Fine!" He turns around and runs upstairs. Troye glares at Jacob's mum. "You're disgusting," he spits and then he quickly goes to find Jacob upstairs.
Troye finds Jacob furiously stuffing things into a backpack. "Jake, it's okay. You're going to be okay." He says softly.
"Not it's not, Troye! It's not going to be okay! My own mother hates me!" He yells.
Troye steps back, shocked at Jacob's sudden burst of anger. Jacob realises how bad he must've sounded. He starts to cry, "I'm sorry Troye, I'm so sorry." Troye runs to him and holds him while he cries.
After Jacob recovers, Troye helps him throw a few more things into his bag. "You're welcome to stay at mine for as long as you want." Troye reassures him.
"Thank you, thank you for everything." Jacob says, then pecking Troyes lips. "Now let's get out of this shithole."
They head downstairs and find Mrs. Bixenman sitting in the exact same spot as before. Seeming as she had not moved a muscle since they had gone upstairs. Jacob steps forward, "Well, goodbye."
She looks at him, "You know, if your father was still here I'm sure he would completely agree with me." she says bluntly.
Troye knows she's crossed a line. "Jake." He goes to grab him but it's too late.
"No! Don't you fucking dare bring him into this! Don't you fucking dare! You have no right to bring my dead father into you disowning me!" He screams, "You horrible bitc-"
"I have lost all respect for you Mrs Bixenman." Troye cuts Jacob off, "All of it. You are all Jacob has got left of his family and you decide to disown him because of his sexuality. Come on Jacob, she's not worth our time." He grabs Jacob's hand and leads him to the door. Troye opens it and heads out.
"Oh I almost forgot." Jacob says, he turns back to his mother. "Fuck you." He spits before slamming the door behind him.
*****************************
Since Jacob wasn't allowed to use the car anymore they had to walk back to Troye's house. Jacob was silent the whole way. Troye just let him think.
As soon as they enter Troyes house Jacob goes straight upstairs. Troye enters the living room to find his mother and his three siblings playing a board game. Laurelle looks up. "Hey Tok." Her face drops slightly after seeing that Jacob wasn't there.
"He's gone upstairs," Troye sighs, "it didn't go too well." He drops down on the couch next to his sister, Sage. "She kicked him out Mum." Tears rush to his eyes, "what kind of mother does that?"
"Oh Tok," Laurelle rushes to hug him, along with his sister and his brothers, Tyde and Steele.
"Can he stay here for a while?" Troye asks his mum.
"Of course he can." She smiles, "Now, I think you should go be with him. He needs you."
Troye sniffs and nods, heading upstairs.
He walks quietly into his room. Jacob is curled up under the blankets, crying.
"Oh Jakey," Troye says rushing to comfort him. He crawls under the blankets and wraps himself around Jacob. "It's okay."
"It's only going to get worse." Jacob cries.
And it was.
