Re: Initial Bid Adjustment

Your Unholiness,

Dynamic Dungeon Designs prides itself in consistently exceeding our customers’ expectations. We strive to complete our contracts in the time allotted and under budget while simultaneously delivering design excellence and the very latest in dungeon technology.

With this in mind, I hope the serious nature of this message is properly conveyed.

While DDD, LLC had every intention of keeping faith with the construction contract signed before we started work on your Unholy Tomb complex; unexpected difficulties have arisen since our arrival on Carrion Island- difficulties that have the potential to throw the entire project into jeopardy.

The first of these difficulties is acquiring unskilled labor from the nearby human habitations to work on the project. Turns out, the local citizenry are not very excited for a Lich King Tomb to be built so close to their homes and categorically refuse to aid in its construction, no matter how impressive the pay offered. Also, rumors that most workers are put to the sword after construction, in order to maintain secrecy about the dungeon’s contents, has also severely impacted our hiring potential.

Another issue impairing our progress is the large population of ghouls “living” in the vicinity of the construction zone. I knew from the maps of the construction site that the forest is popularly known as “The Woods of the Damned,” but some warning as to the ferocity of the ghouls would have been appreciated.  In just three days, a significant portion of the our workforce has been mauled to death by these creatures, including several accomplished craftsmen that will not be easily replaced.

For these reasons, I must report that Dynamic Dungeon Designs’ original cost-estimates are no longer accurate. Hiring from outside the immediate construction area and transporting these workers to site will require additional funds, beyond those agreed to in your original consultation with the DDD sales team. Also, a hiring of a mercenary force strong enough to keep the nightly onslaught of ghouls at bay will also add significantly to our bottom line.

To stay within budget, we can, of course, down-scale our construction plans. Perhaps you would be interested in discontinuing the addition of Lava Chambers in the lowest level of the Temple? That modification alone would free up sufficient capital to handle the costs arising from the project’s personnel and security problems.

On a related note, I would like to inquire if your Unholiness might hold some influence over these ghouls- either through your undead nobility or by virtue of your holding title to the ground under which they reside. We have made minor attempts at communication, but the brutes have proven unresponsive to diplomacy.  Perhaps, in the ways listed above, you could assist in this matter. Please advise.
