Jayden's POV

It was my first day of eighth grade and I am so nervous. No wait nervous is an understatement. Yes I know I've been in this school for two years already but now I'm the highest grade of the school I guess people look up to eighth graders. Honestly I'm fine with that but I don't want people to look up to me because people the people in sixth grade are probably more mature than me.

I stepped off of the bus and walked about three feet to get to the doors, I stood there for a little bit before pulling the door open and walking in. When I was in the school I made sure not to bump into anyone but then I decided to blink whichever was the best and worst decision of my entire life. I mean well, blinking is necessary but that point something second that i blinked I managed to bump into someone.

"Wow great going Jay!" I mumbled to myself. I looked up and I was faced with a guy I've never seen before.

"I'm so sorry I didn't mean to!" The random guy said.

"It's ok, but, it was my fault. I'm Jayden Manning by the way, Jay for short!" I told him.

"Well Jay it was my fault but I'm Lucas Hemmings, Luke for short!" He informed me.

"Ok well I'm going to get to my class. I guess I might see you around?" I said but it sounded more like a question.

"I hope I see you 'round, you seem pretty cool. I mean, uh, not cooler than me but uhm, I guess." He stuttered out.

"Wow so you're cocky and you bump into random girls, I mean wow you're so cool!" I scoffed.

With that I walked off sort of hoping that he didn't get offended because I was sort of only telling the truth. I didn't think he was cocky but I wanted to make conversation but then I said that and realized it sounded mean when I wasn't trying to be.

Dylan's POV

Finally eighth grade last year here and then I'm done. Well middle school was fine but this school is is just really old and it seems like one day it's just going to collapse while everyone is in class. I got off the bus and walked right into school feeling as confident as ever. I have a close group of friends and great teachers, well according to everyone I asked which was like four people.

I got into the hallway looking at all of the room numbers so that I didn't miss the class I had home room in. I bumped into a lot of people and when I saw a lot I mean too many to count. When I finally found the classroom I realized that it was at the end of the hallway which just my luck I have to walk to everyday, then walk to the complete other side of the school just to get to my next class.

My bad luck just continued because when I actually walked into the room there she was, Steph, the worst person you could ever meet. But then I walked further into the room and realized that my day wasn't all bad because there, sitting together, was my group of best friends that I had known since kindergarten.

"Hey guys!" I said sounding cheery.

"Why hello there. Why are you so happy today?" Skylar asked.

Skylar was the one who decided we needed to make a pact. Basically the pact was that we always stick together no matter what, but I think that the pact might be over soon because everyone has a different group of friends that seem more important than us. Like I have my soccer friends, Andrea has her drama friends, Skylar has her student council friends, Tyler has her softball friends, and Jenn has her cross country friend.

"I'm just happy I'm leaving this dump next year. Like am I the only one who has the daily fear of this school crumbling down on us?" I asked not really wanting an answer.

"Well no but-" Tyler started but got cut off by someone screaming her name. We all turned around only go notice we had no clue who it was.

" hey Dani!" Tyler screamed and hurriedly got out of her seat then within a matter of seconds already had a conversation with this so-called Dani.

"Well there goes Tyler, who's next?" I asked rhetorically.

"What ever happened to the pact we made back in third grade?" Skylar asked.

"Well we got into middle school and grew up then we wanted something to do so we would be busy." Jenn explained

"Yea but that doesn't mean you can break the pact we've had for over five years." Andrea argued sounding very annoyed.

Seconds later the bell rang and we had to leave to go to my next classes. Walking in a crowded hallway to a classroom on the complete other side of the building on the first day of school is not the most fun thing to do. After bumping into people and almost walking into the wrong class multiple times I finally made it to my correct class.

My first class was literacy or English whatever you want to call it but I was like the last one to get into the class but I wasn't the last because there was like three seats still empty. I'm happy about that because maybe there could be the possibility that someone that I think isn't annoying will come in.

First the only reason I think that everyone is annoying is because I haven't really talked to anyone new since like sixth grade. The reason for that is because I have only joined a new sport in sixth grade and it hasn't changed since. Therefore the people I didn't talk to in sixth grade I think are annoying and I always will. But the fact that not even one of my friends are in this class is insane and that should be like against the law.

Right after the bell rang someone else walked in and everyone looked up in sync, which to be honest, kind of scared me.

"Hi, I'm sorry I'm late." Skylar said.

"Yes at least I know someone in here!" I muttered to myself.

"Would you like to explain Miss Skylar?" The teacher asked.

"Well, my home room class is on like the complete other side of the planet, it seems like. Then I got lost and no one would help me, of course, but now I'm here if that counts for anything like, I could've just skipped all together." Skylar rambled. She has a slight tendency to do that, that would be one thing that you need to know before you hang out with her like I love her and all but seriously she should come with a warning.

"Ok yes it's fine I understand that your home room is not the closest to this class and it's the first day of school so you will be excused." The teacher said.

"Oh that I god!" She exclaimed.

"Well just please take your seat, you may sit anywhere you'd like." The teacher explained.

We made eye contact and then I waved very excitedly since now I know someone in this stupid class. I quickly pointed to the seat next to me since it was empty. Once she realized what I was pointing to she quickly walked, or ran slowly, to the seat without a second thought.

"Hi!" Skylar whispered.

"Hey! How did you get here so late I'm in your homeroom!" I questioned.

"Well I bumped into some of my friends from student council and we stopped to talk." she explained.

"Oh! would you care to explain what you were talking about?" I asked. I wasn't being nosy but she always tells me this type of stuff.

"Nothing!" Skylar responded.

OK now that is weird Skylar tells me everything and now she tells me the equivalent of nothing. Is there an equivalent of nothing? Whatever it doesn't matter, all that matters is that I stop this separation thing that's happening in the group. Well if it can be stopped.
