Everything hurt, it was blinding and made Ghost's stomach roll into knots. Opening his eyes, he could only see through blurry vision, but the amount of yellow told him he was in his old room. He let out a groan, feeling pain spike in his chest. There was a soft ringing in his ears, just barely covering the muddle murmurs of someone talking. There was a pressure on his face, a loud click, and things came into view.

It was in his old room. Three walls were a light grey while one was a pale yellow. Deadlox was standing by the door looking out as if he was talking to someone. Double was over him, relief washing over his face. Double's mouth began moving, and Ghost realized he was talking. The murmurs were still drowned down by the ringing, which had gotten louder. Double frowned and looked over to Deadlox, who had also faced Ghost. The two moved so that either were on side of him, talking to each other.

Ghost went to sit up, feeling his left arm begin to move before Double grabbed it, shaking his head. Deadlox said something, his face showing anger and hurt. Double slowly let go of the arm, and Ghost moved to lean up on his elbows.

More pain flared up on his left side, and Ghost felt like he cried out but couldn't hear it. Double and Deadlox were suddenly putting their hands on his back, helping him sit up. Ghost closed his left eye, feeling a headache rise but he wanted to know what was going on.

He remembers hanging out with them all. Bodil had just made a new map and was begging them all to try. He was able to go further ahead and found a lever saying not to touch it. He pulled it-

The ringing got worse, making an acidic taste rise in Ghost's throat. He opened his eyes and looked down, seeing a bedsheet over him. He kicked his right leg to move the sheet, and then tried his left. It wouldn't move. The taste got worse as Ghost frantically tried moving his left leg. Deadlox leaned in and put his other hand to his chest, a calming motion. Ghost froze, looking over to Double for help.

Double looked worried, terrified even. But when Ghost wouldn't look away he seemed to give in, moving the sheet off his legs. Or leg. His left leg was gone, and that was the last factor. Ghost felt sick, and let himself be, throwing up onto the sheets. His vision went blurry, but he could still see the amount of blood that came up. Both of his friends jumped off the bed, making Ghost collapse back. Through the ringing, he heard them screaming for help.
