I truly am sorry
You looked so sad today and I just wanted you to smile and laugh.
When I asked you what happened this morning, you mumbled something but I got carried away with another laugh and didn't hear what you said.
"Don't worry about it"
It wasn't because I didn't care.
I do care
You seem so sad today and I wanted to cheer you up
But I made you more sad
I wanted to cry and take all the pain you were feeling so you wouldn't feel what you were feeling anymore
But unfortunately, I can't.
I'm really sorry that I made you more sad and didn't hear what you said

And it broke me to pieces
Because I do care and I'm sorry that I didn't pay attention the first time.
I feel terrible for that
