Sunday.

The end of the week, the day where families gathered to have a meal together, and the last day of the week to enjoy oneself before the mundane sets in yet again.

It was also the day of Sunday service.

She donned a monochrome shirtdress with a plaid fabric, lightly applied some powder, shaded her eyebrows and added the finishing touches with a pink lip tint. Gently picking up the perfume bottle on her vanity table, she sprayed it behind her earlobes, on her wrists, and on her collarbone. Spritzing the perfume onto a brush, she delicately pulled through her long and silky raven black hair. A fruity, aromatic and floral fragrance containing notes of purple passion fruit, Shangri-la peony, and vanilla orchids filled the air. She took the scent in, feeling much more at ease with herself.

A simple black suede bracelet finished off her look, and she did a double-take at the mirror to see if everything hair was in place. Smoothening the tiny creases on her dress with her hands and tucking her stray hair behind her ears, she gave the reflection of herself a satisfied smile.

Perfect, she thought.

She then grabbed her sky blue leather sling pouch and gently shut the door behind her.

Sitting comfortably in the back seat of her father's Lexus, the girl fiddled with her cross necklace as she gazed out on the passing street. The cross, adorned with miniature diamonds, was a gift to her from her parents on her sweet sixteenth. Her parents wanted her to remember that God was always with her, and had wanted her to put God at the center of her life and all that she does. She had never taken the necklace off since and twiddled with it regularly to remind herself of her parent's wishes.

She was a strong believer, not that anything had made her question her belief so far. Growing up in a Christian family since young, she never strayed, not once. Her parents guided her well, the Sunday school teachers taught her sensibly, and the pastors preached with so much conviction that she believed every word they uttered. She believed that Christ could be seen through her actions, which was why she always kept her behaviour and words in check. No swearing, always speak words that give life to others, and serve others first. She attended church service every week. She knew scripture, and had preached the gospel to others before, where some had eventually accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. She did her quiet time every day, which comprised of reading the Bible and meditating on it, and frequently listened to worship songs. One thing she had not done yet as a Christian was to be baptised, however, which meant to be 'cleansed spiritually'. It wasn't because she didn't want to, but because she simply felt that it was not yet time to do so.

She loved car rides. It gave her the perfect environment to contemplate about life as she gazed out on the passing streets while gospel music played rhythmically in the background. Think about what, one might ask. She thought about her best friend from university who was currently overseas that she missed so dearly, about bunnies with their cute little noses and the adorable way that they chomped, and also how nice it would be to visit her maternal grandmother soon since she was her beloved relative, and also whipped up the best-tasting Chinese cuisine. Just as she was relishing about her grandmother's cooking, her father's deep voice interrupted her thoughts.

"Dear, will you be meeting your friends later on?", her father asked without turning around from the driver's seat, keeping his eyes on the road.

"Yeah."

"Who?"

"Siyeon and Handong."

"Okay. Keep us posted, we'll look for you after service."
