It was the trio's monthly sleepover.Handong and Siyeon were hanging out with Minji in her bedroom. Leaning against the side of her bed, Minji vigorously tapped the keys on her phone screen, while the two girls were leaning against the wall opposite of Minji.
On the day that Wooyoung had saved Minji from falling, they had exchanged Instagram handles, and ever since then, had been chatting on a regular basis from dawn till dusk. Each text felt like liquid adrenaline being injected right into her bloodstream - just enough to thrill her.
"What should we do? Movie night? Play PUBG?" Handong asked.
Siyeon's eyes lit up. "Ooh, we could binge watch "F.R.I.E.N.D.S" and eat chips!" she suggested excitedly.
"How about we order in proper food? Its only 10 p.m., we're still in time if we order now. Chicken? Tteokbokki? Jjajangmyeon?"
Siyeon flailed her arms wildly in the air. "Let's have Jjajangmyeon and beer! Do they deliver beer?"
Narrowing her eyes, Handong replied, "No Siyeon, they don't deliver beer....but we could always go to the convenience store to buy some."
"Yes yes yes, please! Minji, what about you? What would you like to eat?"
Handong and Siyeon turned towards Minji, realising that she had been silent so far. They were puzzled to see her grinning at her phone and typing frantically. "Minji?", Handong asked softly, attempting to make eye contact with Minji by lowering her upper body.
When Minji still did not respond, Siyeon snuck up beside her and peered over Minji's shoulder at her phone. Before Siyeon's brain could process any of the words displayed on the screen, a message from the other party came through and Minji shrieked, startling Siyeon, causing her to fall backwards, landing hard on her back. Siyeon let out a cry of pain, cursing under her breath. Handong's eyes widened, alarmed at Minji's sudden exclamation and Siyeon's fall. "Kim Minji! What the heck do you think you're doing?!" Siyeon shouted. Minji glanced at Siyeon with eyes wide, who was rubbing her back with a pained expression, then at Handong, who stared back at Minji as if she were an alien. Concerned, Handong asked, "Are you okay? Did something happen?"
Minji blinked. Then again. She muttered something.
"What? I can't hear you, you should speak up. What happened?" Handong asked again, only for Minji to answer back the same as before. Handong tried to make out the words, but only got the indistinct sound of an 'H' and an 'O'.
"He asked you out?" Siyeon spoke out of nowhere. Minji's gaze slowly shifted to Siyeon, and she nodded slightly, eyes frantic.
Handong, puzzled at this whole situation, asked, "Who asked her out?"
"The dude she likes asked her out."
"She likes someone?"
Siyeon facepalmed. "Gosh, Dong, you are so oblivious. I'm disappointed! Minji has been using her phone excessively since last Sunday. Every time I check Instagram, I see her online. Previously, she was only active once every few hours. The past week? She's been active the whole day. The entire day! Why else would she be unusually active if she weren't messaging a guy? Also, I'm not sure if you noticed, but she was talking to a guy last Sunday. It must be the same dude! Who else could it be, a girl? She's not gay. I may be oblivious to my surroundings, but I never miss out details when it comes to love, for I am none other than Siyeon the relationship guru who has never been in a relationship before!"
"Wooyoung" Minji muttered out of nowhere. Both heads turned, Handong even more puzzled than ever. "Who is Wooyoung?"
"The guy who asked her out.", Siyeon answered Handong's question confidently. Twitching excitedly in her spot, Siyeon asked, "Let me see his profile!" Minji tapped her screen a few times, then passed her phone to Siyeon. Siyeon wordlessly scrolled through Wooyoung's Instagram profile, then passed the phone on to Handong. Handong stared, opening some of his posts here and there, frowning in between. Handong wondered to herself, he isn't even THAT good-looking, he just knows how to dress well, that's all. What exactly does Minji see in him? It isn't as if it's Minji's first time being asked out. Why is her reaction so different this time?
Siyeon sat herself smack in front of Minji with her back straightened and arms crossed.
"Minji, is he nice?" Siyeon questioned.
Minji nodded.
"Is he funny?"
Minji nodded again.
"Does he treat you well?"
"Why are you interrogating her?" Handong cut in, squinting her eyes,
"Hey Dong, calm down. I'm assessing our candidate." Siyeon replied coolly, to which Handong scoffed in amusement.
"So, does he treat you well, Minji?"
Minji nodded for the third. Keeping her tense posture, Siyeon leaned forward, face moving closer to Minji's.
"Final question. Think very carefully. Don't just nod, speak. Have you fallen into the endless rabbit hole called 'love'?"
A long silence. Minji looked down for some time, gathering her thoughts. Finally, raising her head back up, Minji answered the last of Siyeon's questions.
"Maybe? I mean, it might just be infatuation though but-"
"Then I presume that you're on the right track," Siyeon smirked.
"You, my darling, have snatched yourself a Greek God."
