Death was humming softly as she flew around, she was in a good mood after visiting Life and it was quite evident as she flew. She was calmer than usual and not as solemn which was quite odd for Death but it put the mortals she helped at ease to see a soft smile on a beautiful face like hers as they departed from their bodies. Sandy also noticed her mood and smiled, Jack noticed but he was confused as to why she was so happy after the event at North's workshop.

Death reached the next person and smiled kindly down at the woman in the hospital bed whose breathing was labored, but even then she gasped at the sight of the dark figure with pale skin.
"Y-Y-You..." the woman widened her eyes in fear.
Death pushed some hair behind her ear, "You poor thing, don't be scared," she spoke in her sweet voice and sat on the edge of the bed but made no indent, "I'm only here to help," she held the woman's hand gently between her chilly hands and the woman calmed.
"I...I'm really dying, aren't I?" the woman asked into the empty room.
"I'm afraid so, it's time to move on, Laura," Death caressed Laura's cheek, "the pain will end soon, darling, you need only to accept it."
The woman nodded and the spirit leaned down, pressing her soft lips against the young woman's forehead. The last breath left her body and a little white butterfly fluttered from the woman's bosom, Death smiled sadly and gave the pure white wing the Mark of Death.
"Your journey in this life is over, darling, time to rest before moving to the next one," she whispered then the butterfly fluttered out the window which Death soon followed through, "Straight up into the clouds now."
The prolonged beep in the room behind her stopped as the machine was turned off, a young boy was sobbing on his mother's still legs, this was what made Death's job so hard. She stepped back in and walked over after everyone but the boy left, risking it as she reached out and ran a hand through to boy's hair, he looked up and Death softly gasped, stepping back. Surely this boy, Evan, couldn't see her just yet... then again, his mother just passed on so he may believe; Death walked over and knelt next to Evan, his eyes followed her so he could definitely see her.
"Did you take away my mommy?" he sniffled and rubbed his wet eyes.
"I am sorry, Evan, but your mommy was in great pain, I helped take it away. I know you're in pain now but for you, I need you to be strong for your mommy, she's resting now," Death cupped the boy's cheek, "she's in good hands. Your life will be a little harder now but you'll have your dad and you need to care for your sister too," she stood, "stay strong, Evan, we'll meet again, but not in the near future, you're going to live a long life."
Death place a gentle kiss to his head before flying out the window once more, disappearing off into the clouds.
