I hadn't had good night sleep for so long but with Sam next to me I never wanted to wake up. I wasn't sure if I was dreaming when I heard the words that Sam spoke to me, "I love you Rose Wells don't you forget that". I looked to my side and saw a peaceful Sam. The loose strands from her messy bun rested on her face. Carefully I removed them and tucked them behind her ear. I felt better after talking to Sam, but nothing was going to change the pain I felt at the bottom of my stomach, it will always be there.

I turned over and quietly got out of Sams bed making my way to the kitchen. I was surprised to see Mark and Jazz sat at the breakfast bar drinking coffee. It wasn't too early but still it was a Sunday. I was dressed in a plain white oversized t-shirt with Sams football shorts and my hair was in a messy bun.

"Oh finally decided to get up I see" jazz smiled offering me a coffee which I gratefully received.

"Hmmm thanks, Sams still asleep" I croaked not fully woken up yet.

"Looks like you are as well" Mark laughed getting up from the breakfast bar. "Right I'm off see you later babe" he pressed a small peck to Jazz's lips and left the apartment.

"How are you and Sam?" Jazz questioned carefully knowing it was a touchy subject.

"We're ok" I smiled "it's just hard at the moment but we're ok" jazz nodded and we both heard a sleepy Sam.

"Morning" Sam croaked walking into the kitchen in just her sports bra and trackies. She was wearing some childish shrek slippers that looked ridiculous.

"Ehh what are they?" I laughed pointing to her slippers. She looked down to her feet and shrugged her shoulders.

"Don't tell me you have never owned a pair of novelty slippers?" She questioned horrified and me and Jazz just laughed. Eventually Sam broke into a smile and wrapped her arm around my waist gently leaving a small kiss on my lips.

"I was going to make pancakes if you two want some" jazz asked looking through the cupboards.

"Ooooo my favourite" I grinned and Sam just rolled her eyes.

"Yeh go on then" Sam replied to jazz as she went and started tidying the lounge that was a mess from last night.

"Oh I was going to ask, what are you guys doing for Christmas?" Jazz shouted from the kitchen. I looked to Sam and she shrugged her shoulders.

"I mean my family wanted me to go to theirs but I don't have to say yes?" Sam replied looking at me.

"I don't mind" i stated. As long as I was with Sam I really didn't mind.

"But that would mean getting on a plane tomorrow and I don't fancy that, also it's not the same without" she paused "without my brother" she sighed. I walked over and stopped her from tidying. I wrapped my arms around her and lifted her chin so she was looking at me.

"we can just spend it here with Jazz and Mark, maybe we could visit them during New Years?" I suggested and Sam just replied with a saddened smile.

"Ok" Sam whispered leaning her forehead against mine.

It was Christmas Eve and we were all gathered around the small coffee table in front of the TV.
Cluedo was currently the game causing all sorts of arguments and cheating but it was still a great laugh. I was sat next to Sam and she was obviously winning. I leaned over to give her a kiss and get a sneak peak at her cards but she caught me.

"Oi I know how you play" Sam laughed pushing me lightly off of her. "Cheater" She snarked causing me to put my hands in the air in defence.

"I only wanted a kiss" I grinned and Sam shook her head.

"Anyway I've won" Sam correctly guessed all 3 of the cards in the middle as we all sighed and threw our cards down.

"I don't know how you do it every single year!" Jazz moaned getting up to refill her wine glass.

"It's just skill" Sam laughed. She turned towards me, "do you want a drink?" I shook my head as I was trying to stay clear from any alcohol. "Although you could get me a glass of water." I grinned. Sam got up and took my glass to the kitchen.

Sams POV:

I walked into the kitchen holding Roses glass. Jazz was topping hers up with wine but as I walked in she turned to face me and lent up against the side unit.

"She seems happier" Jazz said quietly. Before Rose had come over I told Jazz everything. She was understanding and it was nice to be able to talk to someone about it.

"Yeh" I smiled but it was soon followed by an unsure look.

"What's up then you seem a little off?" Jazz asked.

"I may have told her I loved her the other night" I whispered awkwardly.

"Well... did you mean it?" Jazz asked and I gave her an odd look.

"Of course I did, but she didn't say it back" o sighed thinking it was the wrong time or even too soon.

"That doesn't mean she didn't love you. Maybe she's just not ready she has been through a lot lately" jazz placed her hand on my arm.

"I just feel like an idiot if you know what I mean" I meant every word of what I said I just hoped that she would at least bring it up, but she hadn't said a word.

"Look when Mark told me he loved me I didn't say it back, It didn't mean I didn't care for him, it's just I wanted to wait until it felt right. Rose may just be waiting until the right moment" Jazz smiled. "Come on they're probably waiting for us"

I followed jazz back into the room and noticed that Rose had made herself more comfy. She was wrapped up in a blanket on the sofa as Mark packed away the bored games. "Oi lazy bum you not helping tidy?" Mark joked looking at Rose. I smiled and joined Rose on the sofa. She unwrapped herself from the blanket and pulled me closer to her adjusting the blanket so it was over both of us.

"You a big boy Mark I'm sure you can manage" Rose snarked back jokingly.

I turned to rose and just smiled. She was so beautiful. I was so lucky to even have her in my life. I wanted her to have everything she deserved and more. I did truly love her - I just hoped she felt the same.
