Chapter 4

~~~~(Z's POV)
"Hello?" I said into the phone. I hadn't even bothered to look at who was calling, just answered the phone. It's like three in the morning, and I was asleep. The stupid phone woke me up.
"Z?" A soft voice said. I recognize that voice from somewhere.
"No one calls me that anymore. Who are you? How did you get my phone number?" I said into the device, suddenly alert. No one has used my nickname since Sarah.
"Z. It's me. It's Sarah." She said, and I could hear the smile in her voice. I myself smiled and sat up in my bed.
"Sarah? I've missed you so much. Where are you? Why are you calling me at three in the morning? Has something happened? Did your Dad do something again?" I said, my voice getting louder with every question.
"No! No, no, no. It's not him Z. I need to see you in person. I need to talk to you, and it's important." She said with sadness in her voice. I frowned.
"What's happened S?" I asked again.
"I can't tell you over the phone. It's to important. You need to hear it in person Z. I'm at Talia's house if you want to come here, or we can meet somewhere?" She asked, with hope filling her tone.
He thought it over for a second, "I'll be at Talia's tomorrow around ten in the morning, but I'll have to bring the lads. Is that okay?" I asked her.
"Yeah, Z. It's fine. I'd love to meet your new bestfriends." She said sadly, and hung up.
I hate what I did to her. I never wanted to leave her alone, and I never wanted to break my promise. I had to go. I was being forced to, I didn't have a choice. He said that he would hurt her, her family, and my family if I didn't go with him. Granted, he got arrested a year after I left, I never called her. I never answered her calls or messages. I ignored my closest friend. I ignored my sister.
~~~Next morning~~

I woke to someone shaking my shoulder. I squinted at the sunlight and looked at who woke me up. Amy.

"Abug? Are you alright baby girl?" I said shooting into a sitting position and pulling Amy into my lap.

She shook her head and sobbed in my arms. I cried to, but not as much as Amy. Through her outburst I whispered soothing things into her ear. Eventually, she calmed down enough to speak, and she looked up at me. Her green eyes peered up at me through her thick eyelashes.

"Abug? We will be ok. I promise, and I son't break my promises." I said sweetly, and smiled at the child in my arms.

"Are we or-or-orphans now Sars?" She asked, using my nickname. I frowned at her playfully.

"No, Amy. Talia is going to adopt us okay? I talked to her about everything last night. I've got everything under control and we will not be seperated or put into any homes. This is your new house and Emily's going to be your sister too!" I said brightly. My words brought a smile to her face, and she nodded wildly. "Now, go play with Em and I'll come get you when breakfeast is ready."

She smiled again and jumped off of my lap. I listened as she padded through the hallway and ran into Emily's room. The door closed with a click and I stood up. What I told Amy was true, Talia did say she would adopt us, but I told her to let me think about it. I guess my answer is yes. It'll be good for us.

Talia is already like Amy's second mother and she is my third. She comes after Z's mom and mine in the race, but I love her nonetheless. I walked to the kitchen to see Talia already making breakfeast. I offered to help, but she insisted that I rest. I gave in eventually and went to the porch. My hair was in a messy bun and I was still in my skinnies, white shirt and converse from last night.
