A knock sounded at the door, making me jump from my seat.

"I'll get it!"

I ran to the front door and creaked it open a crack. In front of me stood the one and only Why Don't We boys. Zach, at the front, smiled.

"Valorie Myers. Nice house." He smirked.

I chuckled, "Nice to see you too. All of you." I smiled at the other four.

All I got was silence in return. Nice.

"Well, come on in." I opened the door. "Everyone is in the dining room, if you'd follow me."

I closed the door and led them through the hall into the dining room. I stopped at the entrance with the boys by my sides.

My parents smiled at them and waved silently. Vivian on the other hand, was completely oblivious about what was happening around her as she stared intently at her phone.

"Oh my goodness, Valorie!" Her eyes didn't move from the screen. "Why Don't We said they're heading out to dinner and they posted a mirror picture and... gosh, they look so hot!"

I snorted at this, which also happened to get her attention. Her eyes met mine as her face was in a scowl, but only then did she realize that Why Don't We stood in the same room as her.

"Oh my gosh." She whispered. "You've got to be kidding me."

"Vivian, meet Zach, Jack, Jo-"

And cue the screaming. The boys plugged their ears as I stared at her. Finally, she stopped.

"Are you done?" I asked politely.

She stood up without answering me and rushed to the guys. She threw her arms around Zach and squeezed tight.

"Hi to you too." Zach laughed as he hugged her back.

"I feel loved." Jonah raised his hand and gave a sarcastic wave. Wow, first time I've heard him speak.

Vivian stepped back and hugged each of the boys. She then stood by my side and took deep breaths. She smiled politely and looked to me.

"Why?"

"Surprise!" I chuckled as I did jazz hands.

She sighed, "Past that. Dinner?"

Wow.

The boys each took a seat, Zach stuck across from me, beside Vivian. I chuckled quietly when I saw the spot he tiredly chose.

After we started eating, the comfortable silence was broken.

My father cleared his throat, "So, how's the band, boys?"

"It's going great, Mr. Myers." Daniel smiled warmly.

"Oh, no need to call me that." My father waved his hand. "Call me Vince."

"Thank you, Vince." Jack said after a mouthful of spaghetti noodles.

"No problem. You guys heading back to LA after this week?" He glanced at me.

Daniel spoke again, "Leaving next week. Any interesting business been going on?"

My eyes snapped to Zach who was already looking at me. I glared when I realized he told the boys. He shrugged sheepishly.

"My new line of clothing is coming out soon." My mother beamed. "It's called Valoria."

I face palmed myself at the mention of it.

"Give me the deets, Mrs. Myers!" Corbyn chimed in.

"Call me Venice, please." My mother smiled. "Valoria is my latest line of clothing, inspired by Valorie. It's all types of casual and dressy clothing, including shoes, but only in shades of black, grey, and white."

"And why's that?" Jonah asked curiously.

"Because-"

I cut her off abruptly, "She's bringing back older colors in new fashion. Isn't that right, Mom?"

She nodded slowly, "Yes. Old colors, new fashion."

Zach cleared his throat too, "Valorie didn't mention you were a designer."

"Hmm, what a shame." Mom smiled.

"So, Vivian. Anything you'd like to say?" I smirked at my sister.

She looked around at all of us before speaking. "Not really. Having you guys here is enough. You guys are amazing."

"Thank you!" The band echoed.

As desert was served, I glanced to see if the boys were having a good time. Everyone looked like they were enjoying their time here, but Jack. He looked tense and kept glancing from me, to Zach.

I stood up, "If you'll excuse me, I must use the restroom."

I walked out and into the foyer, quietly shutting the heavy door behind me. I took a deep breath.

The door reopened, making me jump a bit. And guess who it was? Yep. Jack. He closed it behind him and turned to look at me.

"Hi." I whispered.

He stared at me for a second before he spoke. "What're you doing?"

"Huh?"

"To Zach." Jack paused. "He's all convinced you're a great girl and could be his best friend. He wants to have you around us more to hangout."

I suddenly felt small under his sharp gaze. "I-I don't know what you mean."

"What's so special about you to make him forg-" he stopped himself short. Jack shook his head and heaved a sigh. "I'm sorry. Just please, don't hurt him."

"I wouldn't ever." But he didn't hear me, for he was already back in the dining room.

I slowly walked back to my seat across from Zach. I sat down and smiled at him.

My gaze wandered to Jack who was staring intently at Zach. His eyes suddenly flicked to meet mine. He scowled at me, but no one else seemed to notice.

"Valorie?" My mom questioned.

My head snapped in her direction, "Yes?"

"Is everything okay?" She asked.

My eyes flitted to Jack and Zach before settling on my hands. "Of course, mother."

"Alright, as I was saying. The party will be held on Friday and-"

"Wait, what?" My eyes went wide at her words.

"Val, don't interrupt. It's rude." My father scolded.

I nodded like a little kid, "Of course."

"The party will be held here, as always. There will be many guests, including our relatives. It'll be a more formal party for sure. I would like to personally invite you five to attend it and be the special guests of honor. And if you want, you can perform in front of everybody." My mother explained.

The boys were shocked, but the good kind. The kind that doesn't take long to decip-

"We'd love to!" Zach exclaimed with Daniel. The others eagerly nodded alongside them.

Vivian's jaw was practically on the floor at the thought of them being at the party that I didn't know about. Goodness.

"Why haven't you told me about this?" I asked quickly.

"We thought we'd surprise you." My father chuckled.

My mother chimed in, "Isn't it great? I'm also announcing my new line that night, sweetie!"

"Yeah, great." I muttered.

"Why are you so surprised?" Vivian asked.

I shrugged, "I just didn't think we'd be having a party so soon after the last one. And the fact that the boys will be performing." They all stared at me silently. "It's not a bad thing. I just wasn't prepared." Everyone just nodded.

"Well, we better be going. It's getting pretty late." Jack smiled.

His eyes scanned us until they landed on me. I could've sworn his smile flickered into a smirk for a second.

I walked them to the door, where we exchanged small goodbyes. After giving them my mother's number, they headed away, off the private drive.
