Hmm...
Daeji
I hurry and throw my clothes into my bag. I look over at the messy suitcase and rolls my eyes my OCD quickly kicking in. I begin to fold everything and place it in nice, little stacks to conserve space. Once all of my makeup and sweaters made it into my bag I felt content. I'm actually on time! This feels great!
I grins triumphantly and carries my bags downstairs to the front door. She sees her mom in the kitchen and eats a small breakfast before Namjoon gets there.
"Be safe at this camp you hear?" My mom commands.
"Of course mom!" I drone. Immediately regretting my tone. "
Thank you so much for letting me go!" I chirp. I kiss her on the forehead and put my plate in the sink. The waffles she made were so good I practically inhaled them.
"I'm serious. Also, I've been meaning to talk to you about some serious topics I feel that you're ready for. " She says lightly.
My eyes grow big as I suspect the conversation is probably going to take a sexual turn. This was my first real trip far away from my mom and with a boy at that? My strict, model citizen mother would have none of "that foolishness" with me. "What about?" I squeak. Dreading even asking the question in the first place.
" I want you to take these with you incase anything arises." She pulls a brown paper bag out from under the table. "You're 17 now and teenage pregnancy is almost preventable if using some form of protection." Mom states.
I choke on the milk I was drinking, spraying the entire cup contents out of my nose. I choke profusely on the rich liquid so hard that my face turns slightly pink.
"MOM!!" I shout. "That's disgusting! Thanks but no thanks! I definitely took Sex-Ed my sophomore year!" I say and roll my eyes. A hint of defiance in my voice and honestly a tinge of fear.
"Take this just in case! I can't control what you decide but I can control what I provide you with!" She shoves the bag into my arms and I flush matching that of a fire hydrant.
"Ughh!" I yell as I run over to my suitcase and make it seem like I'm packing it.I hide it behind the big armoire in the dining room instead. I take only three yellow packages and slide them into a hidden pocket in my bag. Just in case right? I don't need a whole box though as I laugh at my idiotic mom. Of course she would think I'm a sex starved teenager.
I glance out the window seeing the familiar black Jeep pull up on the driveway. Thank god for great timing.
"Mom! Namjoon's here! I'll see you later!!"
I run outside excited to start my new adventure with my best friend. I was so flattered when he asked about joining him. He has these every year but not once mentioned including me. I never cared though. I was glad he had time with his family. His dad works so much and his mom is always on book tours. I was glad I was able to tag along and be a "Kim" for a weekend.
Namjoons face lit up like a Christmas tree when I approached him.. His dimple so prevalent and his pearly whites made me return the smile. "Let's get it cracking dork! Time for the party of the millennia!" I joked. I hopped in the car and he chuckled as he popped in one of our favorite mixtapes he made a while back. "I got all the 90's jams just for us!" He states. "Time for a road trip of the greatest hits,"
"Because if you don't know we'll now ya know!" We rapped simultaneously. 🎵
