I walked down the hallway before reaching the room I've been looking for. I looked into to see father holding his brand-new little baby. Looking around the room, the mother was no where to be found. Knocking on the door, the father looked up at me and smiled.
"You must be Dominic." Lucas smiled looking my uniform over.
"Yea, Congratulation's on the little one."
"Thank you. I'm Lucas by the way and this is Rowan. Kinsley is in the shower."
"He's cute. Gosh I can't believe she's a mom." He nodded, leaning down to kiss the little boy on his forehead.
"It feels so surreal. We've been waiting for this day for so long, it feels like a dream."
"I know the feeling." The door opened bringing our attention back to Kinsley. She may have just given birth, but she was the most beautiful girl I've ever seen. She finally looked up and stared at me with shock.
"Dom." She sobbed.
"Hi Kins." I smiled pulling her into my arms. Finally, I was home, I had my girl back in my arms. I pulled away, so I could brush the tears away from her eyes.
"I've missed you."
"I missed you too. Did you see him yet?"
"Yea he's cute, looks like you."
"Do you want to hold him?"
"Are you sure?"
"Of course, just wash your hands." She pulled away, pulling the baby into her arms. I walked over and washed my hands before sitting down.
"Come here little man." She smiled setting him in my arms. I watched as she sat back down on the bed where Lucas wrapped an arm around her.
"Say hi uncle Dom." He yawned before looking right up at me.
"This doesn't seem real that I get to hold you. I made a promise to your momma that I would be home for this. Uncle Dom is always going to be here if you need anything. Love you little man." He took his little fingers wrapping them around my finger. He let out a cry making me look up to Kinsley to see what is wrong?
"He's hungry." I nodded letting Kinsley take him back.
"I'm going to get going. I'll let you two spend time with him."
"Will you come over when we go home?"
"Of course, just let me know. Lucas it was good meeting you and you two little man." I smiled at them before turning back to Kinsley pulling her into my arms.
"You did good Kins. I'll talk to you tomorrow."
"Okay." I kissed her forehead before leaving. As much as I wanted to stay and spend more time with them I knew it wasn't right.
"Look who's finally home?" Blake smiled as he opened the door.
"You going to let me in." He smiled grabbing my bag from me taking it to the living room. I followed him crashing onto the couch.
"When did you get in?"
"Early I went to see Kinsley." He nodded sitting down next to me.
"Rowan is super cute." He smiled turning towards me.
"Where's Caitlyn?"
"Her parents house, she's got to work."
"So, what's really going on between her and Lucas?" He sighed running his hands down his face.
"Honestly I don't know. I think their only together because of Rowan. Don't get me wrong he's a good guy but she's not exactly happy."
"I want to tell her. With him being just born he needs both of his parents to bond with him."
"Everything is going to work out."
"Hope so. I'm going to take a shower and go to bed."
"See you in the morning."
(Kinsley's pov)
"What?" I smiled looking up at Dom. Rowan cooed against my chest as he slept.
"Feels like a dream seeing you with a baby."
"It still feels like a dream." I smiled kissing his forehead.
"So, where's Lucas?"
"Please don't start. He's had little to no sleep in the last couple of days, and he has to work tomorrow. I told him to go back to his apartment, so he could get some quality sleep."
"I'm sorry, I just worry about you."
"I know but really we're okay. Lucas is an amazing dad."
"So how are you feeling?"
"Pretty good. He's being good for me when he nurses so that helps a lot." He stirred opening his eyes looking right up at me.
"There's my baby. Want to go say hi to uncle Dom?" Dom moved so I could hand him Rowan. He looks so good holding a baby. My phone went off pulling me out of my thoughts. Harper had text me and wanted to meet up, so Charli could see her cousin.
"Can I ask you something?" I nodded watching the two of them.
"Are you really happy?" I sighed looking the whole way.
"Dom."
"It's me your talking too."
"Honestly no. I hate to say that because I love Rowan so much. My life wasn't supposed to be this way. I had a terrible relationship, then got pregnant by a guy I barely even know. Don't get me wrong Lucas and his family is amazing but I'm not in love with him. He doesn't deserve to be with me."
"What do you mean?" He frowned adjusting Rowan into a better position.
"We're not in love with each other. Honestly if it weren't for Rowan, we wouldn't even be together. I'm not the girl he's supposed to be with. I love him as Rowan's dad."
"I think you two need to talk."
"I know but we're trying to figure out everything Rowan. I want him to be able to bond with Rowan and not have to worry about where we stand."
"I get it, but you have to make sure your happy too." I nodded playing with Rowan's hand. Rowan let out a little cry, so I pulled him back into my arms.
"You just want mom or are you hungry? You don't care if I feed him in front of you right."
"No go ahead. He's a growing boy he needs to eat." He smiled as I grabbed his nursing blanket. I got Rowan set up before looking back at Dom.
"So, your home for good right?"
"Yea at least for a little while?"
"When are you getting out?"
"Next year, I might have to go back over though." I frowned looking back down at Rowan, so he couldn't see my hurt.
"Why?"
"To finish the job. It wouldn't be as long as this last one."
"Hey, are you two hungry?" Mom came in smiling at us.
"What's for dinner?"
"Pizza."
"Sure, thank you."
"Dom?"
"Yes please." She left, and I looked back at Dom.
"What do you say we have movie night like we used to?"
"That actually sounds really good."
"Here you two go. Kins do you want me to take him?"
"In a little bit, he's getting his own dinner."
"Let me know if you need anything."
"Thanks momma."
I finished my pizza before moving over curling up to his side. Mom came and got Rowan while we got the movie ready.
"I've really missed you." He whispered as he kissed my forehead. I sighed nodding in agreement. Not having him here at all was like a piece of me missing.
