Ryan's POV:
I am a Grim Reaper. His son, to be exact. My father has given me the task of guiding the wizard, Jacky Vincent, to the afterlife. More that I asked to do this. This won't be an easy task. My father's voice rang through my head. Jackson is a very powerful wizard. He won't come willingly.
"I can handle it." I said to myself, shortly after making a noise that sounded like 'pfft.'
"Hey, Anthony!" I hear a British accent call from behind, only for my shoulder to collide with that of another boy. "Sorry, I-" This must be Jacky. I recognize him from the picture my father showed me. He's even cuter in person.
"It's all good!" I reply with a smile. "I'm Ryan, by the way. Ryan Seaman." The last name was fake. But I couldn't let him know just yet about who I am. Still, I held out a hand in a friendly manner.
"Jacky. Jacky Vincent." He smiled as he took my hand, shaking it for a moment. He was so cute! This is going to be a more difficult task than I anticipated.
"Jacky!" Another boy shouted. "Hey," he said, turning from me to Jacky. "Jacky, mum says dinner's almost ready."
"Thanks, Anthony." Jacky said, looking a bit sad. "You wanna join us, Ryan? Mum always makes enough food to feed an army." I thought for a second, then smiled at him. This might be my chance to get to know him better. His strengths, weaknesses.
"Sure!" I reply, cheerfully.
"Come on!" Jacky said, grabbing my hand excitedly, like a child who wants to show his parents what he'd just drawn. "My house is just down this street."
The walk itself wasn't too bad, really. I just wish Jacky and I could've been alone. We soon reached an old house. To be perfectly honest, I've skateboarded past here before, but never knew it wasn't abandoned.
"Jackson, Andy, you almost missed-" An older woman began as she turned around. "Oh! Who might you be?" She asked, looking at me.
"Mum, this is Ryan." Jacky replied. "Can he stay for dinner?"
"Of course, dear!" Jacky's mother replied smiling widely. She was about to sit down at the table when we hear a phone ringing. Anthony took his phone out of his pocket to answer, walking into another room. He soon came back in, only to have a disappointed look on his face.
"Mum," he began. "Could you drive me to work? Tommy called in tonight, so they're short staffed."
"Sure. They don't need you now, do they?" Anthony nodded a silent 'yes' as his mother sighed. "Fix up your sandwich, then get in the car. I can expect you boys won't get into too much trouble, right?"
"We won't, mum." Jacky replied.
"Good, you're only sixteen, mind you. That means no touchy feely what so ever."
"I know."
"Good. I'm going to have to go to work soon, too. So I won't be back for the rest of the night. I expect this house to remain as it is now."
"Yes, mum." Jacky's mother smiled as she and Anthony headed out for the car, leaving myself and Jacky alone.
"So," Jacky began, turning to me. "Are you even hungry right now?"
"Not really." I replied with a smirk. The shorter boy leaned up, probably for a kiss, but just as quickly shied away. I smile and let out a bit of a giggle, leaning in to kiss him. When our lips touched, I could sense his soul nearly flutter out of his body. I could tell, to him as much as me, it felt right. We soon broke our kiss and Jacky walked me into the living room, plopping on the couch as I sat next to him. "So, what brings a cute Brit to dry ol' Las Vegas?"
"My dad." he replied, smiling. "He makes guitars. He had us move here because of all the rock stars who he's had contact him for custom guitars." Jacky let out a small laugh. "He's even made one for Monte from Escape the Fate!"
"You seem excited to talk about them."
"Oh my God, YES! Do you like them?"
"Like them? My band opened for them!"
"Woah!" Jacky nearly whispered out. I could tell he's in full excitement mode now. "So, you kinda know them?"
"Sorta." I shrugged. To be clear, I grew up with Robert. He and I are practically brothers, which is probably the only reason he begged Ronnie to let my band open for them at their most recent Vegas show. But, that was all before Ronnie went to prison. "You wanna meet them?" Jacky nodded, once more reminding me of an excited child. He was so cute when he did so.
"I'll text Robert, see if he's with Max and Monte."
"Okay!" I could tell Jacky was beyond excited. I took my phone out of my pocket, only to see a missed text from...a group text?
Max: Hey Ry, it's Max Green. Wanna hang 2nite?
Sure! I'm bringing someone else along, though. Hope u guys don't mind.
Robert: Awwe!
What?
Robert: Did you find someone special?
I hope so. Lol.
Monte: ...
Monte: We're at Robert's house. Haul ass, bro!
Lol! Ok. Be there in 5.
"Okay, they're all at Robert's place. Come on." I say, smiling. Jacky smiles widely, practically jumping off the couch as he and I head out the door, but not before leaving a note for his mom to read if she gets back before us. I could tell this was going to be the best night of his life.
