I wake up and sneak out into the kitchen to see Bozer making breakfast. I open my mouth to ask where Mac is, but Bozer just points to the couch where Mac is still sleeping.

I slip into an outfit that Riley had dropped off for me. I then head back into the kitchen, running into Mac in the process, literally. I stumble and he catches me by the shoulders. It's a casual thing, but that doesn't seem to compute in my brain. My breath catches, AGAIN, and I am infuriated by it. I hate that it's this hard to be around him. I am fully aware of the fact that I need to know where we stand before I'm allowed to fall for him, but I can't help it. There is so much about him to love: he's sweet, caring, friendly, clever, strong, compassionate, kind, and charming. Not to mention that he's also intelligent. Oh, and absolutely gorgeous.

We don't speak until both of us are fully caffeinated and on our way to work.

"So you record music?" He asks me with a curious glance.

"Yeah. For Taylor Swift, actually. She's even been teaching me how to write my own stuff."

"Well, are you going to sing a song for us to demonstrate this knowledge of yours?" Bozer jokes.

We all laugh, and I promise that I will give all of them a concert tonight. As we pull up to Headquarters I try to keep my breathing under control. Everything about this building seems imposing and disapproving to me. Mac gives me a hand out of the car which I accept even as I'm attempting to ignore my racing heart. I'm sure that both of the boys can hear it. Hopefully they assume that it's only because of the new job.

"So good of you three to join us," Matty calls out as we walk into the war room.

I caught the looks that both Jack and Riley were throwing us.

Matty snapped her fingers for our attention then continued briefing us on our mission. We have to go to a gala in New York to meet with an arms dealer. Not only that, but we have to convince him to hire me.

"Why do we have to send her? She's the newest member. You didn't send Bozer into the field until after how long?" Mac immediately refutes the plan.

"Because, Macgyver, she's our ticket into the gala. AND she has what the dealer is looking for in a new hire."

"Besides," I cut in, "I'm a big girl who can take care of herself."

He completely ignores me and continues arguing with Matty. Our boss shoots him a look of annoyance, so he shuts up. The plan is finalized; Matty sends Riley and I to find clothes for the gala. Riley's dress is absolutely gorgeous, and when I step out of the dressing room, she gasps a little bit.

"Izzy," she breathes, "You look amazing. Mac is going to freak out when he sees you."

"Boy I hope so," I mutter under my breath.

Riley catches me and we both grin. I turn back to the mirror to admire my dress.

It's knee length with a peach skirt and white top. I twirl for Riley, and the skirt flows out to the sides. I giggle a bit like a child. We both find shoes to match. Mine are wedges with with crisscrossing straps.

After any and all kinks are worked out, we all find rooms to get ready in.

I get dressed and do my hair and makeup in record time. I have never been this excited for anything in my life. I hurry to the lab to find my friends all dressed up. I can't remember ever seeing them this nervous. Bozer looks to me for approval and smiles when I nod. Mac is standing in the corner of the room looking like a blonde James Bond and generally making my heart beat faster than it should. The look on Mac's face is priceless though. He is in complete shock and can't find any words.

"Wow, Izzy

"Wow, Izzy... you, uh, you, um... you look nice," he stutters.

"Nice? That's it?" I am teasing him, but it is way too much fun.

"You look stunning, doesn't she, Mac?" Riley joins in.

He just nods in response.

We are on the Phoenix jet in under an hour. As the New York City skyline appears in the distance, a few hundred butterflies decide to make themselves at home in my stomach. I take a shaky breath, and Riley reaches over to take my hand. I look over at her with a look of gratitude and helplessness across my face.

We start our descent, and I fill everyone in on what they need to know about the city. I send Taylor a text as soon as we touchdown telling her where we are. She meets us on the street beside the private airfield where we had landed. I introduce everyone and pleasantries are exchanged. It isn't long before all of us are in a chauffeur driven limo on our way to the gala.
