Not Exactly Human

Just 'cause i kissed him doesn't mean I like him

When I woke up I looked at the clock and it had been 7 hours. Dr. Christian came in.

"Chase will wake up in 10 or so minutes." He said checking his watch. I glared at him instead of answering.

"Maddie?" I continued glaring and he walked out. I was following Maddie's directions about not trusting him. Apparently she forgave Dielin which made him trustworthy to me. I ran into Dielin's room and shushed when I saw Maddie sleeping. 

"Chase is going to wake up soon!" I said excitedly. Dielin nodded and I walked out so I would be there when Chase woke up. I heard Dielin getting Maddie up and then them heading to this room probably. I couldn't make out many words, but Maddie was asking urgent questions. I heard a calm reply from Dielin and they walked in just as I turned around. Maddie pointed back at Chase an I saw his eyes fluttering.

"Chase!" I squealed. He opened his mouth, but nothing came out. 

"Chase?" I asked quietly. 

"Hey Liv." He rasped. I smiled and gave him a huge hug.  Before long Chase was sitting up and talking. Apparently it was taking him longer to recover than me. 

"I brought up some dinner." Dielin said bringing in a HUGE tray of salad and soup.

"One for Maddie, one for Liv, and one for me." He continued distributing bowls. 

"What about me?" Chase whined.

"You get soup sick boy." Maddie said passing him the bowl of mushroom soup.

"How did you know I liked mushroom?" Chase asked after a few minutes.

"Because dummy, everyone likes mushroom." Dielin said punching Chase gently.

"I don't." Maddie and I said in unison.

Dielin and Chase grinned and I watched Dielin eat a huge spoonful of mushroom soup and grab Maddie and give her a big kiss.

"Ha! Now you have mushroom breath!" Dielin taunted.

"Hmm mushroom breath or not kissing...toughie!" Maddie said laughing.

I was laughing until I saw Chase about to do the same thing.

"Oh no you don't!" I exclaimed jumping up. Chase frowned, but didn't push me. I sat back down and we continued eating. Chase seemed a little stung. I couldn't help but feel bad that I had rejected him in front of his new guy friend. When Maddie and Dielin were walking out I made a big deal about hugging Chase. Without thinking I did the first thing I thought of. I planted a kiss right on his mouth. I heard Dielin's or Maddie's mouths pop open and Chase wrapped his arm around my waist while I stretched up to hook my arms around his neck. I was hardly aware of Maddie and Dielin backing out. Chase pulled back gently. I couldn't help but smile at the surprised look on his face. 

"So does this mean.....?"  Chase began trailing off. 

"I have to go." I said running out. I immediately went into mine and Maddie's  room. 

"Give me my phone." I demanded.

"Okay." She handed me my phone an purse. I smiled and flopped on the bed. I texted my mom saying I was at a friends house for the weekend.  My next text was harder. 

Livvygirl: Hey Ben. 

TheMan: Heyy baby!

Livvygirl: We need to breakup. 

TheMan: WTH?! You didn't mention that when I was with you this morning.  

I looked up.

"Where you with Ben this morning?" I asked.

"Ya. Didn't I tell you?" Maddie said innocently. I realized that made Maddie the girl he was with which meant he hadn't cheated on me. 

Livvygirl: I know I'm sorry but we need to breakup still. I think I like someone else. 

I regretted sending the last bit but he had the right to know. 

TheMan: Fine. Whatever I don't even care. You were getting old anyway.

Livvygirl: This is another part of why I'm dumping you. You're a total douche sometimes.

TheMan: Who is the dude you're crushing on? 

Livvygirl: I'll let you know as soon as I let him know.  

I turned off my phone and rolled over contemplating my predicament. 

"So you an Chase huh?" Maddie asked winking. I turned red and hid under the covers. 

"Personally I think he's cute. You two are adorable together by the way. He's all tough trying to protect you, but gentle when he actually talks to you. I wish me and Dielin were like you two. Which is pathetic because, well, we're dating and you're not. I think if you're debating you need to date that boy." Maddie continued. Any doubts I had vanished when she said all that. Maddie was totally right. 

"Thanks Dr. Phil, but it's bedtime." I said covering what I was really thinking. Maddie nodded knowingly and climbed into the top bunk.
