Mature chapter. Read with caution.
Jack
I knew Raven looked familiar and an assassin?! Why the fuck am I not surprised! Whenever I get an opportunity to talk to her I will, but first let me call up Gabe. I need to know if he knows who she is and if I should be worried. I don't want anyone in my way when I get my hands around that bastard's neck.
Ron noticed how I've tensed up after speaking to Raven. Why am I allowing her to get under my skin like that? Oh yeah, maybe because she has access to weapons while I only possess a toothbrush. I need to get her on my side some kind of way. I'm sure she has her own reasons for being here.
"Jack, calm down ok? I know there has to be an explanation for this. Just do what you gotta do to get in good and I'll see what I can find out for you."
Ron was talking but I wasn't really paying attention as I focused on the situation at hand.
"I need to make a phone call. Can you make that happen, Ron?"
He just nodded his head and lead me to the common area. We had phones lined up against the walls but I was going to use a cell phone. I dare anyone to say anything to me.
Ron handed me the phone that he always keep on him for emergency issues. Especially if I need Boss, to get me out of here because I refuse to get myself killed. I could just snipe him like a normal person. But noooooo...we need to find out about all his undercover operations.
Gabe answered the phone in seconds.
"It better be important!"
I took a deep breath before I could explain myself. Ron gave me the signal that it was clear for me to talk.
"Is that anyway to talk to someone that's doing a favor for you?"
"Look Jack, I have a lot of stuff going on! If you're feeling like you're not equipped for the job then let me know. Someone is on standby waiting for you to crumble."
"Could this person be by the name, Raven Diaz?"
It was silent on the other end...either because she's the back up plan or he didn't know she was here.
"Did you just say the name Diaz?"
There was another long pause on the other end. This was telling me something is off in our plan. If Brody hadn't clouded my train of thought, pissing me off about Sapphire then I wouldn't be in this predicament.
"I know exactly who that is but why she's there, I actually don't have a clue. I'm sure after seeing you, she knows why you're there but is still uncertain of your exact mission. Is Raven working with Frank?"
"Yeah, she's working with him but I don't know why. I guess tonight when I listen to his conversations in my room, we will find out."
"Has she seen Sapphire? And does anyone have a clue that I'm her father?"
Luckily for Sapphire, she's the splitting image of her mother with a honey brown/caramel skin tone. No one would suspect that he had a daughter because he did all his work as another person. No one knows what he looks like or his real name unless you're in business with him...like me. Anyone else that has seen his face, it was probably to look you in the eyes right before he took your life. But, hold the fuck up!
"Raven mentioned about being an assassin and attempting to take my life. Any clue as to why she was hired to do that!?"
"Well, you know that was all me. I sent her a message before I assigned you to this. I'm a smart man and I must cover all my grounds."
