The car ride with Steve had been a little awkward due to the previous situation, and the longer we were in that car the worse I began to feel. Things like 'he must fucking hate me now, just like Rumlow, now he knows I'm a huge pussy' and 'at least he knows I'm getting what I deserve, he'll probably never look at me the same way that he used to now" kept racing through my mind. My nose had stopped bleeding by the time we pulled into the school parking lot. Steve gave me a water bottle to help clean the blood off my face before we got out of the car. I turned to him and said "thanks Steve, and I'm really sorry"

But before I could open the car door, Steve put his hand on my shoulder and said "hey, stop saying sorry, none of this is your fault, look at me Clint"

I looked up and my eyes met Steves, I didn't really know what to say, so I decided on nothing

"Promise me you won't ever blame any of this in you again, and if anything ever happens, if you ever need a place to stay or anything, call me, I won't tell anyone anything if you don't want me to" he said slightly firm, but also in an understanding but nervous tone

I looked at Steve for a couple of seconds before saying "I promise"

"Good" Steve said before he turned away and opened the car door "you getting out or do you want me to carry you?" He asked in a teasing tone

I smiled and rolled my eyes "being carried would be nice Rodgers" I said as a joke, but I don't think he caught on to that, I swear this man acts like he's from the forties

"Alright then" Steve said and got out of the car, walked around to the passenger side, opened the door, turned around so his back was facing me and said "hop on"

How could I possibly pass up on an opportunity like this. All I did was smile and throw my backpack onto my back, then climb onto Steve's back

"Dam Clint, your way lighter than I thought" Steve said with a laugh. "Do you not have your bag on?"

I laughed when he said that"no, I don't, am I really that light?" I asked

Steve laughed even harder "yea you are, I could throw you ten feet in the air"

"Well to be fair, you've been the starting quarterback on varsity since sophomore year" I said in an attempt to defend myself

Steve chuckled again "I'm going to have to hold you up with one arm so I can carry my bag, but I doubt it will be that hard"

"Yea, well neither do I" I said in response and Steve picked up his bag while easily supporting my weight with one arm.

"I swear you weigh the same as my bag" Steve joked before begging to walk towards the school

"Forward March" I said as a joke, I was enjoying every second of this.

"Yes sir" Steve said and walked up to a small group of people that we knew to be our friends. I laid my head down on Steve's shoulder and tucked my face into the crook of his neck to hide my bruise and broken nose, thankfully, he didn't seem to mind.

As we approached the group, I heard the unmistakable voice of Nat saying "wow Barton, you really can't get any lazier"

I smiled, closed my eyes and mumbled "watch me" and then the worst happened. Brock Rumlow had found us and walked right up to the group and took one glance at me and Steve before saying.

"Huh, Steve I never thought you were into pussy's, looks like I was wrong, I had a feeling about the gay thing though"

Steve sighed and looked at the ground "Were not dating, and he isn't a pussy" he said firmly
