Chastity

"You know we're never gonna get this done if you don't talk."

I was in my Chemistry class and our teacher had broken us off into pairs. I just so happened to have this class with Giovanni and that's who I ended up getting paired with. What are the odds?

There wasn't any bad blood with us, but we hadn't really talked all school year. We actually had three classes together. I don't know why, but I was nervous around him all over again. I'd be lying if I said I was completely over him. Breaking up was his idea. And yeah, I like AJ now, but I still love Gio. I don't know if love just goes away anyway. It takes time and it hasn't been enough time.

"I'm sorry. This is just...weird." I finally spoke and Gio smiled.

"I missed your voice.. Uh..I mean..um.. Yeah and I just made it weirder." He said awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck. I guess I wasn't the only nervous one. He's so freaking cute.

"I guess that's our thing. Two awkward ass teenagers just making shit weird." I tried to joke and I was relieved when Gio laughed.

"Yeah. I can't say I don't miss this though. I can't say I don't miss you." He added and I could feel myself blushing hard as hell. Wait. Doesn't he have a girlfriend? And I have AJ. Well, we're not together, but still. This is bad.

"Um are we supposed to put this in here?" I asked pouring a random liquid into another one.

"No! That's-"

Before Gio could say anything else our test tube exploded. Oops.

"Burrows, Smith, are you two okay?" Our professor said coming over to our table. Everyone's eyes were on us and I looked down in embarrassment. I hate being the center of attention.

"Yes sir. We're fine." Gio answered and our professor nodded his head.

"You two should move away from your station. We're actually out of time anyway. Everyone empty out your beakers and test tubes and rinse them before leaving. You two can put up your goggles, gloves, and lab coats and you're free to go."

Gio and I did as our professor said before getting our book bags and leaving the class room. We walked out together and I thought we'd go our separate ways, but Gio stayed close by. I knew he wanted to say something, but I guess he was nervous. That makes two of us.

"So how was your summer?" He asked and I stopped walking and turned to him.

"Can you just tell me what it is you want instead of doing this? We're awkward enough as it is. We haven't talked all school year, so why are you speaking to me all of a sudden?" I asked just wanting to get the awkwardness over with.

"I want you, Chastity." Gio blurted out. "I know I broke up with you, but I did that so you could explore your sexuality. I felt like it wasn't fair for you not to know for sure, but you know now right? If you're bi, there's still a chance for us."

I was shocked by Gio's words. For one, he has a freaking girlfriend!

"Don't you have a girlfriend?" I asked and Gio frowned. "Where did you hear that?"

"I didn't hear it anywhere. You had the same girl all on your snap and Instagram all summer. I just figured you two were a thing because you looked pretty close."

"That's my best friend from back home. I've known her since pre-k. That's why you stopped talking to me over the summer? We were supposed to keep in touch. This wasn't supposed to be permanent. That is unless you found someone else." Gio said looking unsure of himself.
