Chapter 8: Routine

Once I got home, I made some food for Elliot and Dad. Usually I would sleep at a ridiculous time, school night or not, just on my laptop watching movies on netflicks, but my eyes took charge and sent me to sleep.

This led to me, right now, making breakfast. I'm still wondering how I even woke to the sound of the alarm to be honest.

At least we have some breakfast for once, and not in a rush.

As I started to take the plates out of the cupboard, I heard footsteps coming down the stairs.

Placing them on the table, I grabbed the frying pan with the best fried eggs known to man, I put some on each of our individual plates

In that moment Elliot stumbled into the kitchen dragging his feet as if they weight 110kg. Rubbing the sleep from his eyes, he slumps on the chair and looks at me squinting his eyes.

"When did you wake up?" He questions me.

"A 'good morning' would be nice" I say

"Oh, good morning, when did you wake up?" He asks

"Why do I bother?" I mutter to myself. "Who woke you up?" I ask him

"The food" he replies casually as he pokes the eggs with his finger.

"Hey, don't touch with your disgusting fingers" I tell him

"I can do what I want" as he carries on poking them.

"No, you didn't cook them, so you can't touch it until I say so, I didn't even say that was yours"

"Well it's mine now" this kid frustrates me so much

"Do you want to eat when you come back?" I threaten

"Yes" he replied

"Okay, okay break it up, Eliot stop poking the food, with out your sister we would have starved to death." Dad finally shows up.

I smile in triumph, you would have starved to death and I would have buried you six feet under myself.

"Whatever, you always defend Jessie anyway" he scoffs,

Yes, that is true

"Yes, only because your the one that's doing the wrong things." dad states

And yes, that is also true

"Let eat, and get going, I don't think I would have woken up if I didn't smell this." another one that wakes up at the sleep of food, how come this principle doesn't work for me?

Because no one cooks apart from you.

A voice in my head answered, well that answered that question.

I started to think about more random things whiles eating, like what I have an idiotic brother, and why don't I cook more delicious fired eggs more of often?

Then my mind wondered off to yesterday's events, which was something I would like to do more often. I've bet Jayden has done this with many girls, by many I mean Stacy, I shouldn't be getting to happy.

I sigh as I get up and put and dish in the sink and tell Eliot to hurry, the usual morning routine.

******

"Soooooooo, how did it go?" Kate asks hungry for gossip. I knew this was coming.

"How did what go?" I try to act dumb and avoid the question.

"You know..." she promoted

"I know...." I carry on my dumb act.

"With Jayden! obviously." she examines throwing one of her hands up, as the other was occupied holding her books for next lesson.
