{Max's POV}
Apparently I had fallen asleep while texting Joey because I had woken up, still in the bathroom with my phone in my lap. I turned to look next to me and almost screamed when I saw Tatum sleeping with her head propped against the bathtub. I slapped a hand over my mouth and stood up. I instantly regretted it as my head and stomach ached. I winced in pain and walked to the kitchen to get some advil.
I glanced at the stove clock and my eyes widened at what I saw. I pulled my phone out of my butt pocket and clicked the lock button to turn it back on. The same time was shown in big white numbers on the screen. It can't be nine in the morning already, we're supposed to meet at the local park with the whole group at nine thirty.
I tried to hurry to grab my bags and throw them in the car so I could go inside to wake up Tatum. She was supposed to wake me up in the morning but since I had been sick the night before, she had stayed up all night- until whatever time I fell asleep- helping me.
"Tatum. Wake up. It's nine o'clock- we're late to make it to the park in time." I said somewhat loud, somewhat quiet. She groaned and sat up straight. She saw me standing in front of her and screamed. "Max! We have to get ready to meet up with the group at the park!" I facepalmed at her stupidity and didn't feel any pain from my headache that was now gone. Advil does work fast, I thought.
"Duh, you idiot. I just told you that. Now grab your bags, I got mine in the car already. Now I'm going to eat something." I said, walking to the fridge. I looked inside and felt pains in my lower stomach area. I think it's because I'm hungry, but I'm terrified to eat something right now, I don't want to get sick like I was last night. Maybe later when I'm in the car for awhile I'll feel better.
She finally finished packing her bags in the back seat of the car and hopped in the passenger seat next to where I was. I started the car and looked behind me to start pulling out of the driveway when Tatum told me to stop. "What?" I asked her, turning back around to face her. "We're wearing our pajamas." She pointed to her top. I gasped and looked down at myself. I turned off the car and jumped out, running right behind her into the house.
I opened my closet and pulled out the first things I saw. I slipped on a pair of mint green vans and a loose T-shirt that Joey had bought me after I spilled icecream all over the one I had been wearing. I smiled down at it and began applying a bit of makeup. I dabbed a small amount of cherry lipgloss on my lips and put some waterproof mascara on, just in case. I glanced over to the mirror next to me and saw Tatum standing in front of it, putting her makeup on as well as fixing her hair into a side braid. I looked back to my mirror and put my hair up into a messy bun on the top of my head. I smiled at my appearance and walked out of the bathroom.
I hopped in the front seat again and waited for Tatum to walk out of the door. I looked to the middle table in the car and made sure I had my sickness medicine. I leaned back in my seat and crossed my arms, closing my eyes. I heard the sound of the door closing and opened them back up, to see Tatum looking at me. "Doors are all locked and I left a message on your mom's voicemail telling her we would see her when we get back." She told me.
"Awesome. Okay, let's get this over with." I said, starting up the car again.
We pulled up into the dirt parking lot and noticed everyone standing around with their stuff in hand. They've come from all over the smaller cities of Michigan to go to this week long camp in Florida. What we do is have everyone meet up in one place and then drive to Florida for the week. Then we all drive back home and everyone gets picked up. People that come to this camp every year come from all over the United States. Even people from the Bahamas come. It's like thirty people in each group and it's really not too bad.
