Chapter One

My name’s Max & I have a best friend whom I met in elementary school named Tatum. She spends most of her days on the internet watching YouTube videos, talking to people she’s met on Twitter that probably aren’t even real. I really don’t understand what could possibly be so fun about watching random people, who she calls celebrities, on a website. It’s probably fake as hell, to be completely honest. I try to tell her every time that none of them even recognize her but she refuses to listen to me because I obviously don’t understand her anymore apparently. I mean, that’s what she told me. She wants to meet them every time they’re near us but we never have the time or money to go, of course making her upset.

She’s only obsessed completely one time, she told me about a dream she’d had about her & one of the members getting married. She tried to tell me exactly what happened but I pretended that I was listening, just to make her happy. Most people at school complain that I’m uncultured for not liking any type of YouTube but to clear things up, I probably will never have much interest in it. I don’t see why I would care about something just to try to fit in with everyone else. It isn’t that I hate the people that take part in the business, it’s that I hate the concept of being someone that I’m not.

{Max's POV}

I was laying on the bed in my room across the hall from where Tatum slept when I heard a loud scream come from behind her door, scaring me so bad that I fell off my bed & landed on the floor with a pain shooting throughout my entire body. I sighed & stood up, opening my door & hers to figure out if she’d gotten scared or excited. I thought it would run smoothly but when I tried to grab the handle of her door, I slammed my body against the hard wood.

“What the hell is going on in here?” I asked, making my entrance into her room.

“I entered another contest to win a trip to L.A. so we can have a meetup with O2L, Tyler, Joey, & Sawyer. You’re welcome.” She looked up from her laptop.

I don’t know Tyler, Joey or Sawyer but I’m sure they’re the same as O2L & that really wasn’t something I wanted to experience- especially in California, across the country from where we live in Michigan. She knew exactly how I felt about the situation in where she would enter every contest there was yet she’d continue to enter the both of us in them.

"Tatum, you know I don't want to go meet people I don't know. I've told you this before."

“I know, but I thought it would still be fun to do. After the meetup we could stay a few more days after to do the stuff you want to do. Trust me, I planned this to be a fun trip, even if you don’t know or like the people we’re meeting.”

“Fine, I’ll go. Do I have to register or something?” I sighed in defeat.

“Wait, are you serious? You’ll actually go with me?” She sounded happier than before.

“I guess so. I mean, I would just love to go to California. That’s really the only reason I’m going.”

“I really thought you would overreact and yell at me. I’ll show you the email I just got, come here.”

“Alright, fine. Just explain what I have to do to actually go.” I walked over to her bed.

“Just read the letter here.” She pointed to the computer screen.

I read the letter thoroughly & cringed, knowing there would be other people I didn’t know, probably fans that Tatum has talked to before. I continued to read on as Tatum got up & announced she was going to get a snack.

The email was really long & hard to read, it had so many details:

Congratulations, you have been two of the few selected to attend a meet & greet with the members of O2L. In addition, a few special guests (Tyler Oakley, Joey Graceffa, & Sawyer Hartman) will be appearing at this event as well.
