When we got back to Coruscant, we were taken to a medical center where they gave me a mechanical arm. They connected it to my elbow, exactly where my arm had been cut off from.

After our wounds had been tended to, Obi-Wan suggested I should escort Padme home. I told him yes and agreed joyfully.

I didn’t have to wait in the lobby long for her to pack (since she already had most everything she needed). “Hello Annie,” she told me, smiling as she came out of her room. We walked down the stairs and out the building. “Hello, Milady,” I said. Together we walked, to the landing platform where her ship was waiting.

“It’s very nice of you to escort me home,” she told me. I couldn’t help thinking how awkward this was. I wanted so much to speak to her about everything that happened, but we couldn’t. Not with all her handmaidens and other security around.

“Well, we have to make sure Dooku hasn’t hired anyone else to try to assassinate you, Milady,” I explained. As we got closer to the ship, she said goodbye to her handmaidens and to Captain Typho.

We got on the ship and I felt relieved. It would only be Padme and I all the way down there and we’d be alone again once we got back to Naboo. I longed to be in that beautiful place again with her.

I was looking out the window, watching the ground get lower and lower until I could see half the planet and continued watching until that disappeared once we took off into hyperspace. I didn’t turn around until I felt her hand on my shoulder.

“Padme,” I whispered.

She smiled and put both her hands around my neck.

I sighed and put my arms around her waist.

“What’s going to happen now?” she asked, looking into my eyes.

I got down on one knee and looked up at her. I took her hands. “I deeply love you, Padme. With all my heart and into my very soul. I understand it will be hard, and I know it might destroy our lives, but we will be able to do this. We will be able to make it work. We will make it work because of our love for one another. That’s all that matters. Will you marry me, Padme Amidala?”

She had tears in her eyes and she gasped. “Yes!” she shouted. “Yes, I will marry you!” I stood up and she jumped in my arms. She squealed and I spun her around. I fell onto the couch with her on top of me.

“Have you planned on how exactly we’re going to do this?” she asked, tracing patterns on my face.

I blinked my eyes when she kept going over my eyes, tickling my face. “Well, for one I’m going to…” I paused and switched places, so that I was on top of her. “I’m going to do that, so you will stop tickling my face,” I said.

We both laughed.

“You haven’t answered me yet,” she commented.

“Actually no, I haven’t quite thought that far. You see, I was hoping to get the yes first before I thought of anything else,” I explained.

She laughed. “You never think ahead. So, do these plans you come up with just…get into your mind the minute you’re being attacked or…?”

I laughed. “Most of the time I just wing it,” I told her. “But if I recall you’re the one who got us into the last situation. I just had to follow along and plan as we went,” I continued.

She laughed. “It worked, didn’t it?” she asked.

I nodded. “It worked.”

“We could hire someone to…You know…” Her voice trailed off.
