A knock at my door made me jump. I scurried up and tried to hide the journal, but it was too late; my brother had seen it already.
“You doing alright?” he asked.
I nodded. “Yes. Doin’ fine,” I told him. I smiled innocently.
“What’s that?” he asked, gesturing to the journal.
“Oh this?” I asked, holding it up. I twisted my hand around. “Nothing…”
“I know you well enough to know if there’s old involved, it’s important. What is it?” he asked.
“Just an old journal. Don’t worry. I’ll let you know if anything important comes up,” I told him.
He smiled. “Come get me when you’re done with that thing,” he said, walking out.
I didn’t even wait to see if he’d shut the door. I got back to reading.
We flew our ships in and landed. Obi-Wan didn’t wait for his ship to stop all the way before he jumped out; lightsaber ignited and started killing the droids.
I waited until my ship had stopped, and barely noticed R2 pop out as I jumped out. I ignited my lightsaber as I did a black flip and landed at Obi-Wan’s back. We fought back-to-back.
“R2, locate the Chancellor,” Obi-Wan ordered him. I didn’t hear R2’s beep, but I knew he replied as I swung around to kill more droids. It only took us about a minute to take out all the droids. We walked over to where R2 was plugged into the ship’s computer and put our lightsabers away.
A hologram of the ship appeared just above R2. “The Chancellor’s signal is coming from the observation platform on the top of that spire,” Obi-Wan said, pointing with his finger.
I could feel something then, the dark presence that I knew only as one thing: the dark side. “I sense Count Dooku,” I said, turning to Obi-Wan.
“I sense a trap,” he answered.
“Next move?”
“Spring the trap,” he answered with a wink. “And this time you’re the bait,” he continued. I chuckled.
“It got us away from those fighters, didn’t it, Master?” I asked as we walked down the hallway.
He rolled his eyes at me as I heard R2 trying to follow. “R2 go back I need you to stay with the ship,” I told him.
“Here, take this and wait for orders,” Obi-Wan ordered, throwing R2 a small, handheld comlink.
R2 grumbled as we got to the elevator doors. I heard rolling behind us and turned around, immediately igniting my lightsaber.
“Master, destroyers,” I said. He turned with his lightsaber ignited as we blocked the shots, but we couldn’t rebound them back to hit the droids; destroyers had shield generators over them. The elevator doors opened behind us. We backed in, still blocking the shots until the doors shut. I put my lightsaber away just seconds after Obi-Wan did right before I heard a click behind us.
“Drop your weapons,” a mechanical voice ordered. “I said drop ‘em! Roger...”
The whole charade of droids began responding to the one who had spoken. Obi-Wan and I exchanged a glance that only took a second.
In the same second, we had ignited our lightsabers, turned around and had killed at least three out of the whole bunch. Within ten seconds, all the droids were down.
