Authors note- Idk why but I really like this chapter. It explains some important stuff so... enjoy!🙂

I woke up sitting at my mothers piano. I didn't play, but I sat and stared at it as the wonderful memories filled my head.

- Flashback-

"mom!" I yelled

I needed help with my math. I was having trouble with my times tables.

"mom!" I yelled again.

As I turned the corner into the hallway, I heard a sound coming from the piano room. I heard here playing a peaceful song. I never knew the names of the songs she played. But I knew this one by heart. She used to play it so I could fall asleep. It was soft and delightful. I didn't want to disrupt the sounds I was hearing so I sat quietly outside the door to listen. After a while, I started to fall asleep. It was one of the best nights of sleep I think I ever had at that house.

- End of Flashback-

By the time my mind returned to reality, I had two missed calls from my aunt. I knew why she was calling.

A few weeks ago I called her about my mothers piano and asked if she would like to have it. I knew she wanted the dumb thing. That's all she wanted ever since I can remember. My mother saved up for that piano her whole life and when she finally got it my aunt got jealous. So, when I was born my aunt tried to convince my mother to give or sell it to her. When she was turned down she stopped talking to my mother. But when my mother was diagnosed with cancer she came back to be the nicest person ever as a last hope to get the piano from her. When my mom finally passed away my aunt went back to being the same old rude woman I remembered.

My mother had everything written in her will though. When she gave birth to me, she must have added the piano to her will because when she passed away I got a letter in the mail saying a piano from the name Fiona Larson was being requested delivery to my apartment. I live on the bottom floor so my landlord said I could move it in. Its been here ever since. I got frustrated one day because I was tired of feeling the way I did and called my aunt to let her know I was thinking about selling the piano. She took up the offer before I could finish my sentence.

I answered the phone.

"Hello?"

"Hey! freddie, I think I found a place I can put Fiona's piano." She sounded like the same manipulative woman I remember. Using my mother's name without remembering who it belongs to.

"Actually auntie... I think I'm going to hold onto it for a while longer, "I said.

"Oh, well... what are you going to do with it? are you still playing at the camp?"

"Umm... no. I don't play at the camp anymore but," I paused "I do want to get back into it."

"Oh, well. No problem. I guess I'll let you get back to what you were doing then."

"Yeah, bye auntie. Have a good rest of your day," I said trying to be nice.

"You too. Bye." she hung up before I had time to even remove the phone from my ear.

I knew she was frustrated but my mother gave it to me when she died. So, I can do what I want with it. I could have it incinerated if I wanted. Anyway, I decided to continue working on my book.

After a few hours of writing, Alex texted me.
