On April 17, 1897, at approximately 6 a.m. CT, Aurora, Texas became the breeding ground for X-files and alien stories well before the infamous Roswell, New Mexico incident (reported 50 years later in mid-1947). According to local witnesses, “a UFO crashed on a farm near Aurora,” and media outlets reported that an alleged alien body was “buried in an unmarked grave at the local cemetery.” Details of the incident were reported by the Dallas Morning News and numerous books and websites, including Roswell Books, referring to the sightings of a “great airship.” In addition, there is a 45-minute documentary dedicated to the 1897 Aurora UFO crash that can be found on YouTube.
