A New Hero

Richard was ecstatic, he had been dating Danny for about a month, the two went on a date every Saturday. They'd meet up for lunch whenever they could and talked about what their day had been like while they ate. Richard had just come from a lunch date with Danny and he was smiling like an idiot as he walked down the street.

He had taken his test to be a police officer and he passed, he actually got the highest score out of all the people trying to become cops. When he told Danny he was happy, Richard ended up inviting Danny over to his apartment and the two spent the evening together. They watched movies and celebrated Richard becoming a cop by drinking soda and eating junk food.

Richard was very happy with his life at the moment, he walked into his apartment and put on his Nightwing costume. He then went to the mountain, he managed to stop smiling like an idiot by then but he was still happy as hell. When he walked up Red Robin, or Tim, walked up to him, "Did you see the news this morning?"

Nightwing looked confused, "No, why?"

The original team members, Batman, Damian, and Jason walked into the room, something was definitely up. Nightwing spoke, "Someone want to tell me what's going on?"

Batman brought a news article, "This story has been circulating throughout Bludhaven since this morning. It was brought to my attention about an hour ago, no one was sure if you knew anything about it and wanted to see what you thought."

Nightwing looked at the article, he definitely hadn't seen this, how he hadn't at least heard about this was beyond him. The title read, 'A Mysterious New Hero?' with a picture that wasn't very good but you could still make out what it was. Someone dressed in a long black coat was on the rooftop of a building with the moon in the background.

He couldn't tell exactly what the person looked like but it seemed to be a boy, maybe someone around his age. He didn't know who was in the picture but he wanted to find out, he quickly read some of the article. It talked about what the person that took the picture saw, including seeing the boy stop a few criminals that had been breaking into a store.

Nightwing looked at Batman, "Do you know anything about this?"

Batman shook his head, "I haven't been able to find anything aside from this article." Nightwing thought for a second and Batman spoke again, "Whoever this is could be dangerous, we need to find him."

Red Hood, or Jason, spoke, "Then why don't we just go to Bludhaven and track them down?"

Aqualad spoke, "It would be easier to find him if we all went."

Nightwing spoke, "Woah, hold on, this guy is in my city, don't I at least get a say in how we handle this?"

Batman looked at Nightwing, "Then what do you want to do?"

"There's no reason for us to think that this guy is dangerous, he just stopped a robbery. Let me find him and talk to him, at least give the guy a chance before treating him like a criminal."

Nightwing didn't know why he felt so strongly about giving this new crime fighter the benefit of the doubt. Sure he had stopped a robbery but that didn't give him much of a reason to want to defend him. It was just a feeling, like something was telling him that this guy really was just there to help.

After a few seconds Batman nodded, "Fine, we're going with you in case you need back up but you can talk to him."

Nightwing nodded, "Just don't let him see you, he might not talk if there are too many of us." They all nodded and decided that they would try to look for the guy that night, until then they didn't have to worry. Meanwhile, a certain halfa was pacing in his rundown apartment panicking beyond belief about what he just saw in the newspaper.
