Arthur frantically walked along the sidewalk, asking passing strangers if they have seen a man run by. He finally found someone who had seen Alfred and quickly followed their directions. He ended up at the old, rundown playground. "Alfred?" The Brit called out, "Alfred where are you?" Arthur walked through the playground, looking in every spot someone could hide. He finally came to the edge of the forest. "Alfred? Please come out." Arthur pleaded.
When Alfred heard a familiar voice calling out to him, he backed further into the bushes. He immediately regretted his actions when his wings got caught in the branches. Trying to shake them free only caused them to become even more entangled.
"There you are you twat." Arthur said while pushing the branches aside. He froze and stared at the sight that laid before him. Alfred had tears trailing down his face and a pair of elegant wings resting on his back. Arthur stood there in shock without saying a single word.
"Go ahead and call me what you want. I've probably already heard it before." Alfred said while trying to untangle his wings. The American gave up with a sigh and let his arms fall to his side.
Arthur moved closer and gently began to free the American's wings.
Alfred stared at Arthur in surprise. "W-Why are you helping? Aren't you just going to run away like everyone else?" He asked.
The British man finally freed Alfred's wings. "Why would I do that?" Arthur replied.
"Because that's what everyone else did." The American mumbled.
Arthur felt a tinge of guilt for being so rude to Alfred before. "Here." He reached into his coat and pulled out Alfred's bomber jacket. "You left this when you stormed out of the coffee shop." The Brit tossed the coat to the American and plopped down on the ground. "You should really pay more attention to your surroundings." He said.
Alfred stared at his jacket for a moment before quickly putting it on. Although, this didn't work out too well because of his wings.
He struggled to find a way to put his jacket on before Arthur spoke up, "Just imagine them disappearing."
Alfred looked at the Brit, slightly confused.
"Your wings. Imagine a way for them to disappear. For some, it works best to imagine their wings dissolving. Others see them catching on fire and turning to ashes." Arthur explained.
Alfred nodded and closed his eyes tightly. He imagined himself as a superhero with invisibility powers. He used his powers to make his wings vanish into thin air. When he opened his eyes, the pair of dirty blonde wings were gone. "It worked." Alfred said.
"Well of course it worked you bloody idiot! Did you think I lying?" Arthur said defensively.
Alfred franticly shook his hands with his palms facing the smaller man. "No, no! It's just that I have never gotten it on the first try before."
Arthur scowled before standing up. He stuck his hands in his coat pockets and walked out of the bushes. "Come along." He called back to Alfred.
Alfred clumsily got to his feet and followed Arthur. "Hey, how did you know that wing thing would work?" He asked as he caught up to the Brit. They left the playground and walked along the sidewalk.
"Because I have my own wings to look after." Arthur answered casually.
"Wait...." Alfred stopped in his tracks, "WHAT?!"
Arthur glanced back at Alfred with a smirk across his face, "I'm Arthur, by the way." He said and continued to walk ahead of the stunned American.
Standing there in shock, Alfred stared blankly at the ground trying to comprehend what Arthur had said. He realized that Arthur was much farther ahead of him, so he ran to catch up with the Brit.
"Do you really have wings? Why didn't you tell me before? What do they look like? Are they-" Alfred was cut off when Arthur put a hand over his mouth.
"If you would shut your bleeding mouth for once, maybe I would tell you." Arthur said with frustration. Alfred nodded and the Brit removed his hand.
