Alfred watched as Arthur frantically searched through the mess of papers, "Dude, let me help." He said while walking closer to the Brit.
"No. I don't want to drag you into this.... madness." Arthur finally found what he was looking for. He grabbed a few papers and his spell book before leaving the room.
Alfred followed after Arthur quickly, "No, please! I want to help!" The American pleaded.
Arthur stopped and spun around to face Alfred. "No." He said sternly, "I'm not going to risk someone else getting hurt. This is my curse so it's my problem." He continued down the hallway until he reached a small painting of an angel.
"Arthur. Please... You have done so much for me." Alfred pleaded the best he could and didn't stop following the Brit.
Arthur took the painting off the wall and slammed it into Alfred's chest. "I said no, now leave me alone you annoying little twat." There was a safe in the wall behind the painting. Arthur pressed a pattern of numbers and the door snapped open. He reached inside and pulled out a key.
Alfred looked at the ground with a hurt expression but hid it quickly by smiling, "You know I'm not going to give up until you let me help." He mumbled while setting the painting to the side. I won't give up no matter what.
"Wanker." Arthur shoved Alfred out of the way as he walked in the direction they came. He walked down the stairs into the basement and turned on the lights. It was a cluttered mess full of old furniture and antiques.
Alfred sighed as he started to, once again, follow Arthur. He didn't really mind being pushed around. The American looked around at the old furniture and sneezed slightly from all the dust. How much stuff does this guy have? Alfred thought before he sneezed again.
Arthur knelt down and picked up a rug, pulling it to the side to reveal a steal trap door. "That's so awesome. Please let me help! Please, please, please!" Alfred was latched onto Arthur's arm and shaking him back and forth
"FINE! Just get off me you bloody idiot!" Arthur said as he finally managed to push Alfred away. "But, you are agreeing to do this at your own risk."
"That's fine with me." The American smiled and gave a thumbs up.
The Brit scowled and knelt down. "Magic can be unpredictable. Especially when your dealing with a curse." Arthur said while unlocking the trap door. "There is no telling what could happen. You could lose your wings.... or worse." There was click and Arthur placed the key in his pocket. He stood up and stared into Alfred's sapphire blue eyes. "You still have a chance to go back. Once we enter this room, you could be dragged into the darkness along with me." Arthur explained hoping Alfred would change his mind. Alfred smiled and put his hands on Arthur's shoulders, "If it means that I get to be your hero, then that's all that matters to me."
Arthur smiled and bent down, opening the steel door. A short, stone staircase awaited them. He took a deep breath and cautiously made his way down the steps.
Alfred swallowed and followed after the Brit, closing the door behind him. Dude this is so cool!!! But scary at the same time! He thought to himself excitedly.
They reached the bottom of the stairs and looked around the cellar. "I haven't been here in years." Arthur pulled out a lighter and walked to the center of the room. He knelt down and lit the five large candles in the middle of the floor. They illuminated the room to reveal foreign symbols, written in red, covering the walls. The candles were placed on the corners of a star that was enclosed in a circle and also surrounded by foreign looking symbols.
Alfred swallowed and moved slightly closer to Arthur. Yep, totally a horror movie. He looked at all of the symbols and the star on the ground. The American was careful not to step or touch anything that looked even remotely creepy.
Arthur grabbed one of the papers in his hand and handed it to Alfred. He set the rest by the steps, along with his spell book.
"This is the spell that will get rid of the curse. Once you begin reading it, the effects of the curse will amplify and spread quickly. Which means, you must read it fast but be as precise as possible. Do not stop reading even if I tell you to. Don't pay attention to me, just keep reading."
Arthur closed his eyes and conjured his wings. The black tips were now covering almost half of his wings. "If you mess up even the slightest, there's no telling what could happen to you or me."
Alfred nodded and looked at the paper in his hand. "I promise that I won't mess this up." He said, reassuringly. "Is there anything else I need to know?" The American asked.
Arthur gestured around him towards the candles, "Do you see where the light is?" Alfred nodded.
"Stay in it. Do not step into the shadows. No matter what you hear or what you see, stay in the light." Arthur stared at Alfred with a look of warning.
The Brit walked to the middle of the magic circle and turned to face Alfred. The American swallowed slightly and made sure he was standing closer to candle so that he would be in the light. He looked at Arthur and waited for the signal to begin.
"Don't mess up." Arthur said sternly before closing his eyes and taking a deep breath. He reopened his eyes and nodded at Alfred, who began reading the spell.
