Arthur woke to find his pillow slightly damp and tears still present in his eyes. He scowled at the thought of him crying and walked into the bathroom to wash his face off. The cold water instantly wiped away any trace of sleep he had left. He turned the water off and looked at himself in the mirror while keeping his hands on the surface beside the sink.

The usual annoyance in his eyes had vanished. It was replaced with an emotionless stare that had a hint of fear in it. Arthur barely recognized himself anymore.

His blonde hair had become messy and dark circles were present under his eyes. He looked and felt like he hadn't slept in days. Well that's not right. I slept last night and the night before. Maybe It's because I just woke up... He thought hopefully.

Alfred just noticed how tired he had been. After crying for a bit he, had just stared blankly at the ground for no telling how long. He was finally broke from his trance when he heard noises coming from upstairs.

Alfred checked behind him to make sure his wings were hidden then looked around to make sure no feathers were there. After he saw that everything was okay he let out a long sigh. Alfred went back to staring at the ground again, not really feeling like being yelled at.

Arthur changed into a clean t-shirt and sweatpants before going downstairs. His mind was fuzzy and he couldn't remember much of what happened from last night.

It was all so rushed and panicked. He headed into the kitchen and pulled out a bowl. I don't really feel like cooking. And besides, Alfred wouldn't want me to anyways. Arthur poured some cereal and milk into the bowl and sat down at the table.

Alfred heard someone in the kitchen and hopped off the couch. He walked into the room, without acknowleging Arthur, and made himself a huge bowl of cereal.

He then quickly walked back into the living room and started to eat. Alfred knew that avoiding Arthur probably wouldn't help him, but it was the best thing he could think of at the time.

"You know you don't have to try so hard to avoid me." Arthur called out, eating another spoonful of cereal.

Alfred choked slightly on his cereal. He quickly composed himself and called back to Arthur, "Who said I was avoiding you? Anyways who would blame me after the way you snapped at me yesterday?" He mumbled the last part quietly to himself.

Arthur felt a current of guilt shoot through him. "W-well I.... I didn't..... t-that was...." He couldn't think of an answer that wouldn't make him sound like a total git. Instead, he stayed silent and continued to eat his breakfast.

Alfred sighed, and finished his bowl of cereal. He walked back into the kitchen and put it away quickly before hurrying back into the living room. He hadn't gotten a bit of sleep since that nightmare he had, so he looked terrible. The last person Alfred wanted to see him like this was Arthur. That was another reason for avoiding him.

Arthur soon finished his meal and repeated Alfred's actions. He went into the living room and sat down on the opposite side of the couch. "Look.... I didn't mean to hurt you that much. Your just really annoying at times. Besides, a halfwit like you probably...." Arthur stopped himself and nervously rubbed the back of his neck.

"I was just worried is all." He wasn't the best when it came to sympathizing with people.

Alfred looked at Arthur in surprise. "You... were worried?" He asked. He didn't mean to be so rude, but it seemed that no one ever worried about him and Arthur of all people seemed like he wouldn't care about anybody.

Alfred smiled quickly, "It's okay, though. I understand completely."

Arthur noticed that Alfred looked like he had a terrible cold. "Alfred.... Are you alright? Have you been sleeping well?" He asked, concerned, and moved closer to him.

Alfred hesitated and tried to scoot farther away, "Y-Ya, I'm fine. I mean, no.... um... I mean." Alfred was messing up all of his words. "I mean, Yes I'm alright." He finally managed to say.

Arthur rose from the couch and stood in front of Alfred. He moved closer to inspect his face. "You look like you haven't slept in days. Are you sure you are alright?"

Alfred couldn't look Arthur in the eyes, "Y-Ya, dude. I'm totally fine." He lied. It wasn't like Alfred could tell Arthur what really happened. There is no telling what he would do.

Arthur backed away and crossed his arms. "Alfred, your such a bugger." He said with a scowl "You're lying to me. Come along." The Brit held out his hand. "You're going to get some rest."

Alfred hesitated then sighed and took Arthur's hand. "Fine." He mumbled while pouting.

Arthur pulled Alfred down the hall and to The American's room. Honestly, he acts like a little child sometimes. He held the door open and stood to the side for Alfred to walk in.

Alfred walked past Arthur and into the room. Once Alfred saw the bed he realized how tired he really was. He walked over and threw himself onto the sheets.

Arthur watched as Alfred fell asleep almost instantly. A small smile crossed his face as he closed the door quietly and went into the living room.

Everything was a mess. Somehow, he hadn't noticed until now. Arthur sighed and began to clean.
