Penelope groaned in frustration as she refreshed her search for Hogwarts. Nothing. Absolutely zero. Nip. Nill. Nada. She and Eric had spent the entire week trying to find anything that might refer to Hogwarts, but there was just simply, nothing. Professor McGonagall had told them that wizards and witches didn't use technology, but they were just not convinced. Penelope's argument was that this was the modern era where everything is relied on technology. Yet so far, the professor's word seemed to be true. She shut down her computer and went downstairs thinking of how wizards and witches could survive without using any technology at all. It just didn't seem possible to Penelope. But suddenly, she stopped in her tracks. If wizards and witches didn't use any technology at all, then she could use that as an advantage. She rushed down the stairs, and grabbed her shoes and money.
"Where do you think you're going?" questioned Eric as he watched Penelope run about. "Have you found something on Hogwarts?"
"Nope, but I have a way of taking their not-knowing-anything-about-technology as an advantage. I'm going to prank them." laughed Penelope as she went out the door. "Join me if you want to!"
And since Eric was not one who would miss out on a prank, he followed her out the door.
------------------------
"So what are you planning, oh master pranker?" asked Eric as his hair waved around dramatically. The wind was blowing strong, and Eric's sandy blond hair kept on getting in his eyes. Now that Penelope was looking at him, she could see how much he resembled their father. He had the same hair, eyes and nose except for a jawline from their mother. Penelope on the other hand, had black hair, black eyes, and darker complexion than her brother. Their mother was chinese and had met their father when he was on a study trip to China. It was all very romantic. Afterwards, they had gotten married, and gotten Eric and then Penelope. As Penelope thought about their family, she realised that when people looked at them, they would never expect that they were related.
"I was thinking. You know those fake wands people sell that has a small lightbulb on top and when you press a button, it lights up? Well, I've been reading about this spell called 'lumos' and it basically does the same thing, except with magic. But since you have to start in year 3 to actually begin learning it, I've decided that I want to prank them all into thinking that I'm just so good at magic that I learnt it early." smirked Penelope. Eric had to admit, sometimes his sister could come up with some wickedly good pranks. Not that he was ever going to tell her that though. If he ever said that out loud, she would most likely tease him relentlessly about it.
------------------------
They walked into the shop wondering which wand they ought to buy. She wanted the prank to be as convincing as possible.
As they scoured for the perfect wand, Penelope noticed two younger boys battling with the fake wands and pretending to cast spells. Penelope had once been like that, but now she was about to become a proper witch! She was almost tempted to join them, when Eric called her over.
"Hey, this one looks realistic. Not that I've actually ever seen a real wand" said Eric as Penelope joined him. Penelope picked it up, tried the light and said, "It's perfect!" and went over to the cashier to pay. The price was a little higher than what Penelope would have liked, but she would do anything for a good prank.
As she and Eric walked home, they started discussing other fun things that she could do at Hogwarts. After getting loads of ideas from Eric, Penelope realized that have a lot of fun when she arrived at Hogwarts.
