      You had the longest day of work, your muscles were aching but not because of any extra physical action today;

You were simply just tired.

Hardly receiving any sleep for six months straight was really taking a toll on your health.

You no longer had the energy to do most things that were hardly even tiring to other people, your face wasn't as flawless and fresh as it used to be, and your bright personality seemed to be locked away deep inside, hidden beneath a facade.

You were losing yourself, and you knew, but you were getting used to it.

Who would care anyway? I have no one.

Your negative thoughts were eating you alive, and you wanted to stop them, but you felt you no longer had control over your messed up and dull life, so you simply gave up on trying to make things right again.

You had lost hope, and now you had officially lost hope in getting any sleep at all.

You weren't stupid, you knew this couldn't last any longer until you started going down hill from there with your health. You were helpless, and lethargic.

You were so, so tired, and you were numb even though it hurt.

When you walked into your small apartment, all you could do was drop yourself onto your couch in an attempt to ease your aching bones from your tiring day.

You stayed there for what seemed like an hour as you did nothing but stare up at the plain colored ceiling. It was blank, and boring.

Just like you.

Deciding it was a good idea to eat dinner and shower before heading to bed, you forced yourself to stand to your feet. You let out a quiet yelp when your head got dizzy and your body fell weak to the floor.

It happened out of nowhere, and it was just another typical dizzy spell. They happened often and you wanted to worry for yourself, but you couldn't do anything about it.

You were far too poor to seek the medical attention you would require, and anything you had tried just never worked.

Your vision became clear again and you were able to feel your limbs as you pushed yourself off of the floor and onto your feet, holding onto the couch for support.

Maybe dinner would make you feel better.

So, you searched your pantries for anything suitable then showered and went to bed.

That was your life; dull and simple.

You got in your most comfortable clothes for sleeping, and even fixed up your bed so it was more comfortable.

Maybe tonight you would get at least some sleep...

Your body was worn out, but your mind was running wild and as you sat on your bed and leaned your back against the wall, you knew tonight would not be a restful one.

You sighed and let a tear escape from your eye. You were breaking, with each tear that rolled down your face, and it hurt.

You just wanted to sleep, what's so wrong with that? But no, your mind was stressed, anxiety took over, and maybe even something else too.

You were too focused on desperately fixing your broken life so you'd have a future, but nothing worked and that stressed you out every hour of the day.

And as the tears continued to stream down your face, your back remaining against the thin wall and you hadn't realized that you had stayed there like that for a few hours, you heard something on the other side. Something beautiful.

It was a voice, a male, and it was oh so deep. It was smooth, and purely angelic. The voice sounded as if it were right there on the other side, and your cries fell silent as you listened to the wonderful sound.

"A sound of something breaking...
I awake from sleep...
A sound full of unfamiliarity..
Try to cover my ears but can't go to sleep..

Unable to ignore this voice, you found yourself calming down at the sound of it, your breathing was slow and calm. You were calming down, and you didn't want it to stop.

"The pain in my throat gets worse..
Try to cover it..
I don't have a voice..
Today I hear that sound again..

Your eyes began to feel heavy...

"Its ringing again, that sound..
A crack again on this frozen lake..
I dumped myself into the lake..
I buried my voice for you..
Over the winter lake I was thrown.."

You fell asleep listening to the heavenly voice that was coming from the other side of your paper thin walls of the apartment,

And for the first time in a long time, you slept 'til morning.
