He was unstoppable.
Not because he did not have failures or doubts,
But because he continued on despite them.◌⑅●♡⋆♡ ♥ ♡⋆♡●⑅◌
[There's a moment
In your bones when
When the fire takes over]If this was an origin story about a superhero we might have started with an epic battle scene. Or maybe we could have told the tale of an orphan having lost his parents, becoming an edgy masked vigilante. We might have even started with someone falling into a vat of radioactive goop or being bitten by a genetically altered bug. But this isn't the origin story of a superhero. If you really wanted to hear it, and you probably do, we could tell you how he was born in some fantastical way, or how miserable his childhood was as an only child with parents too busy to show him affection, about how a bad man with a weapon gunned down his parents in an alley, or some comic book opening like that, but to be perfectly honest we don't feel like it. Because that would be lying.
If you want to know the truth, Mr and Mrs McClain are still very much alive with four children and some grandchildren who miss our hero very much. Mrs McClain is a short woman with a huggable build, the crows feet by her deep brown eyes, the grey hairs in her once chestnut hair and the laugh lines on her soft face now seem worn as she worries day and night about her son. Mr McClain is a tall, tanned man with dark hair and light eyes. Don't be fooled by his stern expression, he's a big goofball and even more of a mother hen than Mrs McClain. Upstairs fretting over just about anything Abuela and Abuelo try to watch TV while dearly missing their grandson.
Ten minutes away while wrestling a seven year old and a five year old into having a bath is the eldest son Luis, his wife Lisa, little five year old Nadia and seven year old, Sylvia try to keep the sadness out of their hearts. Luis having just gotten off the phone with the police, checking that his brother hasn't started smoking again in grief.
Downtown at the law firm is Veronica McClain the second eldest, though eldest daughter, fondly looking at a family photo with tears of worry in her eyes instead of focusing on her stacks of paperwork. The fourth child, the youngest daughter, Rachel is checking in to make sure her sister is eating properly even while she feels as though her heart has burst herself.
All the while, middle child Marco is putting down the phone from a call with Luis and turning back to his desk with an empty look in his eyes. As a police man he was used to letting families know about deaths. But never had her expected to be told his own little brother was gone.
Not all origin stories are as cold black and white as we'd like. Sometimes to do what is right hero's have to hurt the ones they love the most and that can break a hero inside. But they have to press on for those ones left behind. No matter how much it hurts. For every day they mourn his loss he is amongst the stars making sure he never has to mourn theirs. Is that selfish or selfless? Heroic or cowardly? It's both. It's neither. But most importantly its a force so strong that he becomes that which he never thought he'd be powerful enough to become.
He becomes unstoppable.
