Hey guys, it's Maddy, or JadedConfessions. You know what? You can call me Yin for short. I like that name. Wow. I have a lot of names.

The picture you see up there was drawn by yours truly, a bit rushed but whatever.

This story takes place in starlight, after the haunted house episode and before When Angles Fall. Comment below what you'd like to see next or any editing suggestions! With that out of the way let us begin the fanfic.

Zane's POV

The ocean seemed to stretch out for miles, it's shimmery blue waves convincing me to join them, complimented by the sand that sunk its way between my toes and the sun that seemed content in literally burning me alive.

"Huh..." I say to myself, "and to think I was almost considering nature to not be terrible in every single way..."

There I sat on one of Starlight's most busy beaches, trying to adjust the umbrella so the sun's deadly rays couldn't reach me. Half focused on doing that and half focused on watching a certain pink haired meif'wa build a sandcastle with her blue haired friend...

Kawaii~Chan/Nana's POV

"A moat," Katelyn says with certainty, "we need to build a moat."

I finish patting the last bit of sand and look up at Katelyn, "hm? why's that?"

"So that you can woman up, cross the bridge, or moat rather, of awkwardness, and talk to Zane." After a second she giggles and gives a little wink, "see what I did there?"

I tense up, feeling my tail start to swish faster. "What do you mean?" I ask innocently, trying to maintain her gaze.

"What I mean, you dingus, is that Zane is like, full on staring at you."

"Well I- Wait, no he's not!" 

Crap. I'm getting defensive, aren't I?

"Go see for yourself if you don't believe me, Kawaii~Chan," Katelyn wistfully says, patting the sandcastle. "I'll stay here and continue on our masterpiece, you should go talk to Zane."

"Mmmm..." I mutter uncertainly, looking over to where Zane is sitting. Oh, kitty crap! he really is staring at me. We lock eyes for about a fraction of a second and quickly look away. Well, that was a monumental fail.

"Ok then Katelyn, I will. I'll be back soon, ok?"

"Awwhhh," Katelyn whines, "just Katelyn? No Katelyn~Sama?"

Are you kitten me? Nana, you've got to keep this act up! I think to myself.

"Oh, ah, ok Katelyn~Sama! You continue on our sandcastle and I'll go and do something cute, haha, you know me!"

"Ah, ok then?" Katelyn raises an eyebrow, "I'll see you soon."

Zane's POV

I can't believe I was caught staring at Kawaii~Ch-- er, Nana. Especially after our first kiss. Yeah, we've been on a date at the carnival, and it was fun, but I just-- I don't know. What if she thinks I'm a creep? what if she thinks my mask is weird? what if she thinks my hair is strange?... Wait, is she coming up to where I'm sitting right now? Oh Irene, uh... 

"Hey Zane," Nana says, one of her ears twitching. "Whatcha doing?"

"Ha, well, nothing much. To be honest."

"Sun's a bit too hectic for you?" she giggles. 

"You know me..." I chuckle, un-tensing my shoulders, "last time the sun and I mingled, I got sunburnt really bad."

Nana looks at my hand, in which I was holding a book...

"Nya~?!", she mewled. "Are you reading twilight?!"

Oh, great.

"Uh..." I cringe at myself, looking up at Nana's sly face. "Maybe?"

She lets out what could only be described as an ear shattering hight pitched "kya"

"OhmygoodnessZaneyoureadtwilighttoo ImeanIthoughtonly13yearoldschoolgirlswereintoitohmyireneweneedtodiscusstheshipsandIjustcan'tbelieveyoulikeit!"

"Uh..." I murmur, trying to wrap my head around her seemingly undecipherable sentence. "Do you, mrrgh... want to read it with me?"

Without saying a word, Nana plopped down beside me and eagerly opened the book. Laying her head down on my shoulder, she gently shoves the book in my direction.
