Keira's POV

I wasn't sure how meeting up with my old friends was going to work out, but I felt relief when they agreed to meet up and were thrilled to know that I had returned from England. The plan was to meet up with them at some club for drinks and dancing. I had no problem with that and even allowed myself to wear a dress and heels appropriate for the occasion. Now sitting at a table with my friends and catching up, I worried about meeting Ethan again.

"Try to relax." I heard Jason's voice at my ear and his hands on my shoulders, slowly rubbing them. I could see him smiling even though I wasn't face-to-face with him. "You're worrying too much about this."

"Yes, but..." I sighed and set down the drink I had ordered. "This is my ex-fiancé we're talking about. I'm worried there will be grudges."

"He agreed to come, didn't he?"

"Well, yes."

"Then don't worry about it."

I sighed again and nodded, tilting my head to one side. The massage certainly felt good... "I suppose I should relax," I murmured in agreement to Jason's first statement.

"That's my girl." Jason kissed my cheek before he sat down next to me. "And if for any reason Ethan wants you back, I'll beat him off with a baseball bat. Just so you know."

"But I thought he was dating Olivia now."

"He is, but you never know."

I snorted and tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear. Really, the situation was ridiculous. "What a screwed up life I have," I murmured. "First I get engaged. Then I plan a wedding that really hasn't been a dream of mine only to find out I actually like the plans after all. Then I realize I love you and Ethan. Then Ethan and I agree to break up. I run to England, you're here, and Ethan starts dating my best friend."

Jason chuckled. "Maybe you should start a my-life-sucks club or something."

I rolled my eyes, swatting his arm playfully. "But my life is pretty screwed up! You have to admit it!"

"Nah." Jason took a sip of his beer and took my hand gently. "Think of it as a life experience. You finally know what you want and are happy with things that are turning out. Wouldn't you agree?"

"Yes," I admitted.

"Good."

I was able to dance three songs with Jason before I finally saw Ethan and Olivia walking in the club. They looked happy. I wasn't sure if they were happy about being together or if they were happy about being here. I guess I was going to find out. Gripping Jason's hand, I bravely made my way through the crowd and over to the couple.

"Keira!" Olivia squealed and ran over to me, dragging poor Ethan with her. "Good grief, woman, it's been too long!"

"I'm sorry!" I had to laugh and hug my best friend tightly. "I've been on a rollercoaster since..." I darted my eyes over at Ethan. "Well, since my engagement with Ethan, actually."

Olivia shrugged and hugged me again. "I completely understand," she assured me. "It has been dramatic for you. You needed the break! But! I'm glad you're back, Keira. Everything going okay now?"

"Yeah, it is," I replied. "I've finally figured things out." I smiled and spread my arms out a little, showing off my dress and heels to her. "I've also reached my feminine side. What do you think?"

"I knew you had it in you!" Olivia grinned and looked at Ethan. "What do you think?"

Ethan winked at me. "I've known that since our pink almost-wedding."
