Chapter 13 – Keira's POV

Life seemed to be a whirlwind since my move from England back to the States. My relationship with Jason grew stronger as the weeks and months passed and while we did have our moments and our fights, but we were happy. Completely happy. So happy that it didn't seem real at times. My job was great as well. Sure, I wasn't performing at theaters or recording CDs, but the Hollands were a second family to me and I enjoyed teaching Emily.

My friendship with Ethan also grew stronger. I still loved him, but it was more of a sisterly love. Ethan became my second brother like the rest of Caleb's friends had. (Caleb liked to tease me that I was trying to replace him even though we were extremely close. I just teased him back about how he replaced me with his new wife of his, Amelia.) I supported his relationship with Olivia and supported them even more when they became engaged after almost two years of dating. Ethan had been worried about my reaction when the engagement was announced, but I had no grudges. I was honestly happy for them and felt like Ethan and Olivia were going to have a better marriage than if Ethan had married me.

Currently I was in the music room at a local college. My fingers smoothly and skillfully moved about the ivory keys of the piano and my mind only showed me the notes to "Moonlight Sonata." I didn't notice the dozen students listening from their chairs. I didn't notice the music instructor who invited me to play and set an example for his students. I only heard the music. I only noticed me and the piano.

It had always been that way. My family had learned over the years that I got lost in my music. It didn't matter what kind of a mood I was in or how distracted I was. The moment I launched into a new song and my fingers touched the keys of a piano, I was in my own little world. I couldn't give up the piano or music for the world. I had been so stupid to think I would've been happy without doing what I loved most. I doubt I could attempt to do it again.

When I played the last note of the song, there was a moment's applause. Beaming, I stood up and bowed as the instructor, Mr. Hamilton, approached me and shook my hand. "Excellent playing, Miss Lancaster," he praised. "It's been quite some time since I've heard such a talented player your age such as yourself."

I blushed and smiled shyly. "Why, thank you, Mr. Hamilton," I said. "It was my pleasure."

Mr. Hamilton gave me a toothy grin before he turned for his students. "Does anyone have any questions for Miss Lancaster?"

"I have a question, sir."

"Alright. Stand up, please."

I frowned in confusion when I saw Jason stand up from the group of students. "Jason?" I asked curiously. "What are you doing here?" He had complained of an all-day meeting last night when we were on the phone. "Did your meeting end early or something?"

Jason merely chuckled and walked over to where I was standing. "Something like that."

"I don't understand..."

"I have a question for you, Miss Lancaster," Jason changed the subject. "That is, if you don't mind answering it."

I shrugged, deciding that if he wanted to play a game, I should just play along. "That's what I'm here for."

"There's this girl..."

I looked at my boyfriend weirdly. "Uh, okay...?"

Jason looked amused as if he was telling a joke or something. "A beautiful, talented girl who had been through hell and back until a particular man ran into her in another country."

"That sounds like me..."

He chuckled. "Yes, it does."

"So what's your question, Mr. Meyer?"
