I'm so pissed

So today there was an election for the future prime minister of my province.

Before anything else, I will explain the political system in Canada. So we got three levels: municipal, provincial and federal. Today we were voting for the future prime minister for the provincial. The last provincial prime minister was Philippe Couillard and now it's François Legault. And for Justin Trudeau (whom it seems everyone loves, I don't know why?) is term will end next year, and I don't think he will be reelected (my opinions on Justin Trudeau will be explained in another rant).

First off, as I'm watching how the elections live and the party who is in lead is the party that is against refugees, that did not talk at all about the environment, and that in the debates he didn't answer any questions, he only throws insults at the other candidates.

In the four parties that we competing, this party was the only one I didn't want to see win. Like during debates, he said that new immigrants had to pass a value and a French test to be admitted into Québec or else they would be out of the country. This is so unethical! He said there should be a limit of immigrants and we all know we need a lot of workforces. These immigrants are the answer to our lack of workforce.

Then another thing that bugged me is that during the elections campaign, the environment wasn't taken seriously. Like the party that just won, didn't talk at all about the environment and he is the only party (out of the four) who didn't allow money to help the environment.

Of course, for these parties, they are all old and they don't care about in 20 years because they will be dead, but us, the youth, theses decisions theses old man takes have a huge impact on us! These decisions of not investing money and time for the environment will impact us, we are the ones who will have to be three times as cautious about the environment because of the elected prime minister in 2018 that didn't care about the environment.

Climate change is real! Like some people think, climate change is not about the weather getting warmer. It's about unusual extreme weather. It has happened this year and it's only starting! Like the first two weeks of January 2018, there was an extreme cold wave. We had warnings that if you didn't need to be outside you shouldn't go out of your house. I didn't start school until the third week of January so I didn't walk outside to school during the cold wave (it was still cold). The weather was disgusting, it snowed at least one week out of two and it was really cloudy (I only saw the sun twice in 14 days). For a week, the temperature reached between -35 and -40 Celsius. That is not normal. Usually, in January, the temperature gravitates around -30 C. This fits right in the description box extreme.

Also, this summer, we had 4 heat waves nearing 30-35 Celsius. When usually, during the summer, the temperature is around 25 C. Another example of extreme weather.

What to learn from all this rant? We got to take care of our environment because we are doing a pretty shitty job right now.
