Ch. 7: Blackout

*Steve's p.o.v*

We sat in silence thinking over the day. We had finally gotten them to go to sleep and my ears were still bleeding from all the screaming. They didn't want us near them, but they didn't want us to leave them alone either. Finally we thought it best to just take them to our suites so that we could be there if they needed us and still give them their space.

However, I still couldn't get my mind off of Joe. When I got my hands on him I was going to beat the answers out of him. If he really were working as a double agent and telling their every movement and breakdowns to Matt I was going to kill him. What else had he been holding back from us? Had these past few years, high school included, all been a lie?

"What are we going to do?" Asked Eric breaking me out of my thoughts.

"We could sit here and wait until they wake up or at least until Joe comes back. Whichever comes first."

"No need for the sarcasm Steve." He spat "I  can't believe he would actually disappear when they needed him most." He sighed disbelievingly. Where in the hell was he and why wasn't he here with us? He claimed to be like a brother to them so he should've been one of the first ones making sure they were okay.

"He definitely has a lot to answer for and I'm not fucking around with him anymore. I'm going to get some damn answers this time!" I yelled slamming my fist down on the table.

"Damn it Steve are you trying to wake them!" He whispered yelled. "Look I understand your frustrations, but we don't have all of the facts just yet. So at least for now can we please just let them sleep."

"I'm sorry. Okay? I'm sorry, I'm just so fucking angry right now? How could he do this to them?"

"Do what exactly?" He asked.

"You didn't notice?" I asked.

"Notice what? I was too busy seeing red while attempting to calm myself down before I attacked Lance."

"Eric I... I think Joe and Matt are related. He didn't rush to block them like we did. He begrudgingly did so simply because I kept glaring at him and that's when I noticed their similarities. They gave each other a look that they thought no one else would notice, but I did. Anyways, I honestly believe that Joe has known everything all along and has kept in contact with Matt." I sighed. For a moment we sat there in silence as I allowed him to process the information I'd just given me.

"You know Steve I never give you credit for just how smart you really are; then again I never thought you to have much of a brain. You rarely ever think for yourself as is." I turned towards Joe amd it took everything I had within to keep me from getting up and charging at him. "Shit. Eric I keep forgetting that you already know my cousin. Beniyah can you believe they're actually dating them now. Little Eric here was crushing the entire time and still sat there and let you say all of that to her." He laughed as I felt my jaw tightening. What the fuck?!

"Wow. I would've thought that the two of you had better taste than that." He laughed. "Then again if I sat there while someone ragged on my girl I wouldn't have too high of standards either."

"Wait a minute! Beniyah is the asshole from freshman year?!" I spat jumping up. I groaned staring at Eric in complete disbelief as he gave me a look telling me to keep calm. I sighed as I discreetly  pressed record on my phone. Now all we had to do was keep them talking before we could take them down.

"Surprise!" Laughed Joe and it was taking everything I had not to fuck him up. We still needed answers. Some kind of incriminating evidence for my phone that was now recording. "Now you know. Matt wanted them broken and that's what they were until the two of you came along. So, he assigned me to make sure that somehow they always got triggered. The elevator was us. The movie theater was us. Those times on the tour bus was us. What happened at The Burger Palace was us and now we're going to take them with us and you're going to let us."
