So you all probably know me and my best friend, let's just call her M because she has a difficult name and doesn't like it when people can't pronounce it right, are always looking for opportunities to play pranks on the world.
It was our last day at college before the prep-leaves started. We had a theory exam of Behavioural Sciences. We were sure we would have the next day, till the finals, off and we were going about like a happy lil duo. I had my birthday just a day before and I hadn't celebrated it like balloons, cakes and dressing up kinda way. I spent the whole day studying Behavioural Sciences and I was happy doing it because I love Behavioural Sciences 💁🏻♀️
So after the test me and M joined the class in their quest for getting an academic matter resolved. I was getting irritated because people were cooped up in a small space and it was a hot day and my perfume had worn off and I didn't happen to put it in my bag that day🙄 I was pissed at the weather, the class and my perfume.
Anyways we left the group because honestly who cares😂 we went to the cafeteria and M bought me a can of Coke and fruitella and she gave me biscuits and chocolates for my birthday. My other friend gave me a Paulo Coelho book which I just loved.
After my can finished I wanted to buy a water bottle because I love water and it was really hot that day. There was no one at the counter but one guy in the kitchenette washing dishes. We waited.
The cafeteria phone rang. Nobody came to receive it, not even the guy washing dishes. Not a single soul. The phone rang once. And twice.
The third time a bulb lit above my head and I looked at M and she looked at me. I grinned and she nodded. I picked up the receiver and put it back again. 😂 in simple words I disconnected it.
The call could've been from anybody, the principal, the CEO's secretary, any HOD or some demonstrator 😂
After I disconnected it we both ran away from the scene. We went to sit in the lecture hall after this. M was really excited and happy for my birthday. She and Irum and Nayab planned a lil something for me which was really sweet and so far this made my 21st birthday the best birthday of my life (so far).
They made a poster and asked every girl in class to write a small wish on it. When anyone would ask, 'Oh man, but what would I write?'
Irum used to reply, 'Any bad habit of hers you absolutely don't like at all'
And the girls would literally sit down to think about my annoying habits 😂I wasn't really in the mood to cut the cake because I was feeling too lazy to go get the cake from my locker but after a lot of pleading from M, I took out the cake and we both went to the cafeteria again asking for a knife.
It was the perfect moment, just me and M. Which reminds me of her birthday, she has many friends in the class and it's a good thing. She went to call a 'few' friends for the cake cutting and instead a sea of classmates just kept coming towards me and the cake. In a short while, the whole class was there for her cake cutting. Where is that invisible cloak when you need one?!
The most funny thing was that when she was standing there getting sung the happy birthday, I was standing with the crowd trying to click her pictures but she told me come stand beside her and I got a weird couple vibe there. Ahem anywaysComing to my cake cutting. There was me and M and the cafeteria guy behind the counter texting on his phone.
'Thank heavens you cut the cake and I was blessed to taste this heavenly thing' M said.We came downstairs to distribute to the other classmates and also learn about that academic issue and its final announcement.
M remembered she had a book she took from the library and hadn't returned for more than 2 months. She had lost her own book during the tests and I being the worst friend ever, told her to keep the library book. But she never gives in to my schemes.💁🏻♀️
So we went to the library and again, no one was in the library. We put the book on the librarian's desk, attached a small paper with her name written on it, because that's what he needed to feed in the computer anyway.
While we were at it, the library phone rang. No one came.
It rang again. This time I picked up the receiver and put it beside the phone and we both ran away.Sure there are cameras in the library and there was a camera in the cafeteria as well but I thought the issue would be long forgotten after a month.
Moral : Never leave me with your phones!
