Chapter 4: The Gang

We were walking down the hallway after the Social Studies were finished.

“You so lucky!”-Leslie said.

“C’mon a TV-reporter is awesome too.”-I told her.

“I know!”-she said excited.

“Hey Dan, wait!”-I shouted and ran to him after Leslie gave me this look.

“Roxie, hey.”-he said unenthusiastically.

“Look, I’m sorry about before. Truly sorry.”-I said with my hand on my heart.

“It’s okay wifey.”-he said smiling at me and putting his arm round my shoulder.

“Dude touchy feely much?”-I asked him with one eyebrow up. He didn’t put his hand away.

“What? You’re my wife now you idiot.”-he said grinning.

“Well lucky you. First you get to be my friend and now you get to be my husband.”-I said laughing.

“It’s all my charms.”-he said smiling.

“Nah, it’s me I’m just a very unfortunate girl.”-I said in a fake sad voice.

“I’m hurt. You broke my heart! I demand a divorce!”-he said half laughing.

“No, no, no! NOOOOOOOOOOOO!”-Ricci shouted.-“You two are like the cutest couple ever.”

“True story, but only because my beauty is enough for both of us.”-I said in a serious voice.

“Who’s being conceited now?”-Dan asked.

“I told you that I’m not the most popular girl for nothing.”-I said winking at him and linking arms with Amy.

“So now you are cheating on me?”-he asked with a sad note in his voice.

“Yup!”-I said and turned back to Amy.

“You two are adorable.”-Amy whispered in my ear.

“AMY!”-I gave her a look.

My phone buzzed again.

Hey wifey.

Miss you already.

Your charming husband.

I quickly saved the number and wrote a reply.

To: Dan

Charming? Per-lease.

And I know you miss me.

I’m just that awesome!

“You are so in love!”-Leslie said from behind me.

“So not.”-I shot back.

“Then why are you grinning like an idiot when you text him?”-she said suspicious.

“I am not.”-I said putting both hands up.

We walked to the canteen and got our usual chips and steak and went to sit on our table.

I sat in between Amy and Leslie who had their boyfriends on their other sides. 5 minutes later the whole gang + Dan were sitting and eating lunch.

Suddenly Mike put his fork down and started talking.

“Right Dan, we are the popular kids and that’s the gang where it’s really hard to get in.”-He said looking at Dan.-“But most of us made some kind of connection with you.”-Mike added.

“So we’ve decided to let you in our gang.”-Louis said finishing of the speech.

“Oh wow. Thanks guys!”-Dan said definitely shocked.

“Well you know, we couldn’t exactly let you go since you and Roxie are practically falling over each other.”-Amy said with a half-laugh.

“That’s so not true!”-I said and I heard Dan’s voice say the same words in the same time.

“Don’t deny the obvious you guys.”-Simmy said.

“Leave it, they’ll give up eventually.”-Les said with a smirk.-“Dan we have some rules in the gang that you have to follow.”-she added.

“Yes true. First, when two of the gang members dated and then they broke up, they have to go back to being friends.”-Jules said firmly.

“Second, we don’t accept the wannabes in our gang. Never!”-Ricci said.

“Third, when someone has a party everyone in the gang should be invited.”-Amy said.

“Fourth, don’t get onto other people’s business unless they let you.”-Marcus spoke.

“And last but not least: don’t ditch your friends when they need you.”-Ty said in a very serious voice.

That was our main rule. Never ditch your friends or turn your back on them when they need you.

“Got it!”-Dan said and we all got back to our lunches.

“Roxie, Rob we gotta go now.”-Ty said while me and Rob got up.

“Right guys bye. I’ll see you around.”-I said and waved goodbye.

There were 10 more minutes left until class begun, but it was drama next, which meant that we had to go to a totally different building.

We walked across the school campus and walked to the back building.

“It’s our last class today guys!”-Rob said excited.

Oh right the first day was short so we could get used to the fact that we are back at school.

“Yeah, maybe we should all go somewhere together.”-Ty said.

“Hey guys! How was drama?”-Ricci asked approaching us.

“T’was good. We are doing Little Women this year.”-Tyler said and kissed her cheek.

“Roxie you must be overly happy that it’s not Shakespeare.”-Jules said.

“Yeah deffo.”-I said briefly.

“You guys, we are going to Burger King to celebrate the reunion of the gang and our new member.”-Mike announced.

They all yayed and went into the direction of the gates. I just stood where I was.

“Roxie, you coming?”-Amy asked turning around.

“You guys go without me. Have fun!”-I said and walked towards the bus stop.

I didn’t know why, but right now I couldn’t have fun. There was something in me that felt really bad. My phone buzzed and there was a new text.

From: Dan

Cheer up will ya?

See u 2morrow wifey.

I smiled to that. What’s wrong with me? I knew the boy only a day and I’m already falling for him.
