Chapter 6: The Break Up

Bucky was at his locker when Dot came in and saw his neck "James Buchanan.. what did you do?' she said as tears welled 

"I slept with someone else Dot." he said as he kept messing with his books. 

"How could you? I thought you loved me." she said 

"Love .. Dot I have been trying to break up with three and half months now. There is a reason why I have been pushing you away. I don't love you anymore I don't want to be with you anymore." he said 

"I can't believe you would do this to me. After everything we have been through you would go sleep with someone else." she said just as Sydney came down the hall behind Dot. 

She walked up to him and slapped him. "You told me that you two broke up." she said 

"I should of known it was you. You have sunk your claws into him ever since you got here." Dot said

"Dot she has not..and maybe if you knew how to fuck better in bed I wouldn't have cheated or wanted to leave. But you are so damn bossy in bed and I hate it I hate sex with you. Sydney gave me everything I wanted in bed and then some. So please let me go so I can be happy." he said 

Dot wiped tears "Fine. I hate you I can't believe you Buck. I thought you weren't the typical football player I thought you were better than that.. but turns out you are just like the rest of them." she said then she ran away. 

Sydney came back down the hall and she seen his face. "James.." she said 

"I got what I wanted Syd but why does it hurt now." he said 

"Because she was your first girlfriend and that's okay. I broke up with my first boyfriend and it hurt even if it was what I wanted." she said as she kissed him. He wrapped his arms around her waist. 

"You are amazing..um I um please tell me that you are on birth control." he said 

"Yeah..I um I am my grandma just switched me from the pill to the shot last Monday. We should be good." she said as she wrapped her arms around his neck. 

"I hope so..because well I always use condoms and I didn't have any cause I honestly wasn't expecting to get laid. I just thought it was a party you could of warned me." he said 

She smiled "Well I wanted to surprise you." she said as she looked up at him. 

"It was the best surprise darlin." he said 

Nat looked at Steve "That's why we helped Steve. Look at that have you ever seen him look at Dot that way." Nat said 

"I guess you are right." Steve said 

"I know I'm right." she said as they walked to them. 

"So did it work.." Wanda said

"Yeah it worked and Sydney is officially my girl." he said as he kissed her. 

Later that day after practice she and Bucky were walking to his truck she had already texted her dad that she was gonna hang out with him. "Syd.." she heard 

"Daddy.." she said 

"I'm sorry baby but you aren't going to be able to hang out with James tonight.." Elliot said 

"Daddy.." she said 

"I got a phone call a few hours ago it's your mama. Your grandmother her mom called me and said that she's been in a car accident they would very much like for you to come say your goodbyes. We have to go to South Carolina baby." 

"No no I will not go..she left me I already came to terms with the fact that she ..." she said then she felt a hand interlaced with hers.

 "Baby look at me if you don't do this..you will regret it for the rest of your life baby. I know she left you one day and never came back  baby you have told me the story but baby believe me that you will regret this. I hated my older brother for joining the military and I refused to go see him off for his first deployment and guess what the last words I said to him was that I hated him and I hope he died over there being angry at him and knowing that those are the last words I said to him and I will never get the chance to apologize and take those words back if you want I can see if I can go with you but baby please..learn from my mistake." he said 

James said "You go with her James okay.. be there for your girl. As long as you don't mind Elliot."

"Not all James" he said 

Bucky packed a duffel bag then walked up to her house since it was two streets over from his and he took her bag and put it in her dad's trunk. They got into the back seat and rode with Elliot to South Carolina. She had on his football hoodie and her red hair in braids as she laid on his shoulder and held his hand. 

They arrived at the hospital she went up to the ICU floor Bucky looked at Elliot "Why did she leave Elliot.." he said 

"She left me because I had an affair with Sydney's aunt my ex wife's sister. I have another daughter that I will not bring around Sydney  because well Naomi is where she gets her dance talent from. She was Sydney's whole world she would stand next to her mom at all of her dance classes and mimick her mom in her little tutu and bun and ballet slippers. 

He laughed at the memory "She looked so adorable. I will have to find you a picture. But one day while I was going over a patient's chart in my home office. I heard Sydney crying and screaming that she wanted to go with her she thought she was going to dance class. She yelled and screamed that she didn't like her anymore and threw her slippers in the trash along with her tutu. Naomi just walked out the door without a word and was never seen again. She signed the divorce papers but didn't even both to fight for her daughter and sold her dance studio." Elliot said as Sydney walked out of the room.

"Okay well let's head to the house." he said

"What house dad? We don't live here anymore." she said

"The Beach house I still own here." he said as they walked to the house. 

"I'm assuming the beach house is a lot like my family's lake house." Bucky said

"I guess so I haven't been to your lake house." she said

"I'll take you when we get back." he said as he kissed her. 

They stayed at the beach house until after the funeral was over.
