not a shipping concept. only a pure friendship between two high school kids
concept
where tyler and josh live
in a boring town and they decide to
make the most out of it
josh was a paperboy. that's all he was and probably all he will be. he an unmemorable kid who lived in an unmemorable town. he thought he would be born in this suburban town and die here with 2 kids, one boy and one girl, and a brunette wife who bleached her hair blonde to seem young.
he would always be the one kid who
was not 100% white with curly black hair that was always messily laying over his ears and forehead. he was short for his age, only about 5'5" when he last got measured (which was sophomore year and he was a senior) and always stood out no matter how much he tried to blend in.
he will always try to blend in. no matter what it took.
that was until he met tyler.
he was the only kid he knew who
wanted to leave this cycle of this suburban hell. he looked nothing like the other kids he knew.
everyone looked the same in their town. khaki shorts, simply southern shirts and a short brown pompadour haircut. that was every single kid josh knew. maybe a couple kids would have longer or black hair that swooped over their eyes but they seemed to be sweeped back into the short cycle.
tyler was different though.
he was strong and independant unlike most people in this town. tyler had messy, medium length hair that always looked clean and freckles that sprinkled his face when the summer break ended.
when tyler and josh met, it was when josh was delivering the sunday papers. he even remembered the first page had something to do with how millennials are ruining the economy. josh always read the front page before delivering anything. he thought he could see what he was delivering and refuse if it was bad, even though he had no say in anything.
tyler was outside his house, dribbling a basketball, when josh rode his bike up to his house. he wasn't paying attention, too much was on his mind.
tomorrow was his 7th standardized test this week and all he could do is wait until spring break was in his grasp. he was exhausted with studying and keeping up with friends. he threw the paper aimlessly and was snapped out of his gaze when tyler hissed out a low pitched ah...
josh turned and saw tyler holding
his forehead and the basketball bounced under his feet and it slowly rolled away. josh jumped off his bike, abandoning it on the side of the road.
he grabbed tyler's basketball and ran up to him, his curls bouncing as he stopped and looked at the taller boy. josh almost had to look up at him. he looked like a giant from up close and it scared josh a little, knowing that he could snap the smaller in half if he put his mind to it. he could do anything to josh if he truly wanted to.
« what the fuck! » tyler yelled and turned, jumping to see josh looking up at him with glittering hazel eyes. tyler blinked a couple times before stepping away. josh held out the ball for him to grab. tyler slowly reached out and pulled it into his hold. he looked at it.
« who are you? you look 12. » josh tilted his head and tyler sighed.
« i accidentally threw your paper at you.. i-i didn't mean to, » josh mumbled and looked down. he kicked a stray rock and tyler watched it stumble clumsily towards the grassy yard.
« and i'm not 12. i'm 17 for your information, » josh said snappily. the taller looked at him and sighed heavily.
