"I'll be fine." I say to my mother as I climb into the taxi. She taps on the glass, blows me a kiss, and waves me goodbye. I sit back in the taxi as we drive toward Exeter airport, awaiting my flight in Pennsylvania. I have been given an assignment by my boss to travel to America to write a paper on the life of a skater. Being a skater myself, I find that being given this assignment rather fit my lifestyle. And hey, It gives me a chance to travel so I'm not complaining!

As time passes, I arrive at the airport. I pay the taxi driver as he brings out my luggage from the boot of the car, and begin to venture through the largely bright building I have to stay in for the next 3 hours. I never quite understood why I have to arrive hours before the flight itself.

It's now 6:58am and it's been announced that I have board. Nervously, I pull and carry my luggage toward gate 59. I'm welcomed by an incredibly lovely flight attendant who can see the nerves are building. She takes my luggage and loads it onto a large trolley. As I take my seat inside the plane, she walks toward me.

"First time flying?" She mumbles.

"Uhm, yes. Im.. really nervous, is this normal?" I stutter.

She pats my arm. "You will be fine. As the plane takes off, just take a deep breath and close your eyes. It'll all be over before you know it." She leaves with a sweet smile on her face and talks to other passangers.

As I arrive into the brightly lit airport, I notice the change in temperature almost immediatly. Walking out of the bridge, my feet heavy on my body, I grab my luggage from the belt and plod out of the airport. I continue to listen to music, HIM seems to be a favourite of mine so far, and wait for a free taxi. I look up and spot a gentleman leaning against one so I stand and huddle over to him. I take out my headphones and pause my music.

"I-Is this free?" I mumble.

"Oh! Yes! Where are you headed?" He replies, stunned almost.

"To West Chester. I have an address if you need it?" I reply.

"Well, that would help me out a lot, ma'am." I hand him the piece of paper, he studies it for a few seconds before leaning into his car and putting the address into a SAT- NAV. He opens the door for me and carries my luggage into the boot. I get comfy and wait for him to enter as well. I hear the boot slam and he climbs inside. Seatbelts are clipped and we're off.

"You know, I couldn't help but notice that you're British." He says to me, pulling out of the airport.

"You picked up on that, huh?" I mumble.

"It's, uh, kind of hard not to." He chuckles. "How long are you here for, then?"

"A year. I'm on an assignment for my job. I have to, uh, write a paper about the life of a skater." I inform him.

"Oh nice! So you're a skater then? Only I didn't see a skateboard with you." He questions.

"It's in my suitcase. I like it to be safe. Bloody expensive that thing." I answer.

We drive past a large sign saying "Welcome to West Chester, Pennsylvania! Please enjoy your stay."

This is it. I'm here. Goodbye, England. Hello America!
