I write down my raps and I call it poetry,
but my rapping is all that they can ever see,
Say it’s not really a poem though I comb through the lines and fly high like a bird in the sky because my work is more like the spoken word – not too absurd from the genius of a nerd,

Adapted to the times, call it pop if you want,
I don’t really care – I go hard and never stunt,

Open my mind and let the words come through,
Get knocked down and then rise like phoenix's do,
And yeah I’ve got my own problems too,
But right now my biggest problem is you,

Maybe that’s why I agree with Diggs when we feel out of place making the same music everybody else makes,
And I’m not fake right,
Working hard all night, up 'till the first light,

I write the book so my focus isn’t just the chapters of the famed framed pictures of my life that I took that I hang on the hook,
I write real soulful stories that get your soul shook,
The recipe is success and victory the meal that I cook,
I am not a crook, look,

This used to be a voice for the voiceless,
A choice for the choiceless but now nearly everyone is doing the same old thing so there’s no lane for different choices, and that’s why my choice is this,

To talk about my life and insecurities as demons that don’t respect me,
If I’m up for president – please don’t elect me,
But yeah, when I do freestyles I’m a little carefree 'cause when I’m busting rhymes in the lines it’s like musical wind chimes and sometimes I get to see clearly,

But now with poetry and this thing called hip hop it’s focussed on the mainstream,
I can't believe that it was about this that I used to daydream,
So call this a rap or fast paced poem,

This is how I get my emotions and thoughts known and shown 'cause I’m an artist that’s grown from a little kid choking back tears mixed with fears who felt so alone even in his own damn home.
