Miranda awoke early the next morning and dashed to the bathroom. After emptying her stomach she stood and cleaned off her face and turned to see two red heads staring back at her. "Mommy, did you get the flu?" Cassidy asked. Miranda looked at her daughters and watched them walk towards her and wrap their arms around her. "If you're sick then we can take care of you like you took care of us. Is that why Daddy brought us home?" Caroline asked. Miranda shook her head. Leave it to her eleven year olds to get right to the point. She knew she wouldn't be able to hide anything from them, they were after all her children and they would know she was lying if she told them yes. "Come with Mommy, I need to tell you both something." She said She took both of their hands and led them back into her bedroom and they all climbed on the bed and she sat one on either side of her. "Mommy does not have the flu." Miranda said softly. "Then what's wrong with you? You were throwing up." Caroline said "I know darling. Mommy is not sick. Now what I'm about to tell you is a secret, so I am trusting you to keep it. Daddy knows and so does Uncle Nigel." Miranda said. The twins nodded their heads, eager to be let in on the secret. "All right, the secret is, Mommy is having a baby." She said and she watched her daughters eyes grow wide. "A baby?" Cassidy squeaked. "yes my darling, a baby." Caroline thought for a minute and then nodded head. "We are going to have a brother or sister?" Cassidy suddenly said excitedly. "Yes darling you most certainly are." Miranda said and smiled. Miranda could see the question in Caroline's eyes and she knew she was not prepared to answer it just yet. "Now, we will talk about this some more tonight. Mommy has to get ready to go to work and then when Mommy gets home we can discuss this some more. If I'm not mistaken your father wants to take you skating today, so you should go and get ready while Mommy gets ready for work." The twins nodded and kissed Miranda on the cheek and ran out of the room. Miranda stood up and entered her closet and pulled out a pinstriped pair of slacks and an of the shoulder, deep blue, form fitting top. After getting dressed and doing her hair and makeup she looked in the mirror and sighed. Pretty soon she was going to have to call up the designers and have them make maternity clothes for her. She said goodbye to the twins, the house keeper had just put their breakfast in front of them and Miranda turned green, then she donned her coat and went out the door into her waiting car and headed for RUNWAY.

Miranda breezed through the door of her office with Emily on her heels relaying her schedule. "You have a 5 p.m. meeting with Donatella, a meeting with the board members at two and..." Emily was cut off by Miranda. "Move my meeting with Donatella up to one, and inform the members that I will be unable to attend the meeting, send my apologies. Call the twins' father and let him know that I want him to have the girls back before dinner, then call James Holt and tell him I approve of all of his designs for the first issue of MEN'S RUNWAY, and to go ahead to print. Tell Nigel that I wish to see him immediately.." Miranda paused at her desk and she saw her Starbucks waiting. "And tell Emily to go to Starbucks and get me a decaf latte, and get cup out of my sight, that's all." She said sitting down behind her desk. Emily hid her shock over the change of drink choice, but managed to stammer "yes Miranda" and she grabbed the cup and headed out of the office, sending the second assistant flying towards the elevator. A few minutes later Nigel walked through the door holding a small container. "I figured since you probably hadn't had anything to eat this morning I should bring you something." He said closing the door. Miranda's face paled slightly and he chuckled. "relax, it's just some grapes and melon. If I remember correctly it was one of the few things you could keep down in the mornings, hopefully this time will be no different." Nigel said and set the fruit and a fork in front of Miranda. She took the lid off of it and carefully took a small bite of melon and then nodded. "thank you Nigel." She said softly. "How did everything go last night? From what I heard when I left James isn't thrilled." Miranda shook her head. "He doesn't want anything to do with me apparently, and thank you for having Greg bring the girls home." "You're welcome." Nigel replied. "Anyways I informed Greg, and Nigel, he wants to claim to be the baby's father." She looked at Nigel who's eyes had widened and his jaw had dropped. "Miranda, I....well....actually that shouldn't surprise me. I saw the way he looked at you at the twins' party. I know how worried he was about you when you were in danger. It would keep the press at bay, well in a manner of speaking, they wouldn't be hounding you about the father's identity, and that would be a very good thing. What do you want Miranda?" Nigel asked calmly. "I don't know Nigel, I don't know if I can handle this." Miranda said. Nigel stood calmly. He knew that was all he was going to get out of her to talk about at work and he didn't blame her. "Well, you know my number. I'm going to a meeting." Nigel said and left the office. Miranda sighed and took a bite of a grape.
