I walk down the sidewalk, the air so chilly, I can feel the tip of my nose turning red. I'm heading towards the abandoned building that I sat by everyday when I was younger. I listen to all the cars roaring in the distance on this cold morning as I grip my warm cup of coffee tight in my hands. I finally reached the abandoned building. I sit my backpack on the ground next to my feet, leaning my back against the brick wall. I lift my head up looking into the dawn of the morning, letting a deep sigh leave my lungs. While I wait for the bus to come; wait for the bus to take me away from the life I have known, I take another drag off of my cigarette. I'm hopeful to start a new life, far away from this place. While I wait, I can't help, but to fall into the thoughts that I'm not really leaving anything behind. I'm doing the right thing. 'I hope.' After about twenty-ish minutes, I finally hear it. I hear the squeaking of my ticket out of hell. It comes to a roaring stop in front of me. I take a breath, throwing my half smoked cigarette on the ground. I peel myself off of the building that I would lean on for the last time. I take a deep breath, stepping through the bus doors. I never want to look back.
I struggle to hand the man in the driver's seat my ticket, for my body is weak due to the lack of nutrients in my body. The fact that I haven't eaten in a couple of days crosses my mind as I walk back to an empty seat; located in the rear of the bus. On my way to the seat, I pass a small child eating a bagel. I can't help, but think how good it must taste. The warm blueberry bread, with a thin cream cheese spread. I sigh as I toss my small backpack; filled with everything I own, into the overhead carriage. I take my seat next to the window, turning my back to it. I prop my feet up on the seat next to me, placing my head down on my knees, hopeful to drift off into sleep.

I'm startled by a green haired girl throwing her stuff down next to my feet. She takes a seat next to her things. Slowly, I lift my head up ait more; gazing at her. Her appearance is similar to mine; ripped up, dirty clothes. Her hair is unbrushed and she has a small backpack. She smells faintly of cigarette smoke and coffee. I can't help, but to wonder what her story was. What was her upbringing like? If it was anything like mine and if so what is her next destination? I'm pulled from my thoughts when I notice that she had stopped sucking on her lollipop that had been in her mouth the whole time. Her attention completely on me.
With a crack in her voice she excitedly says. "Hey! What's your story Red?" I laugh a little at her blunt statement, but proceed to accept her invitation to the conversation. "My story? It's a long one." She chuckles at me, but has a sparkle in her eyes'. "I got nothing but time. Where are you going when this bus breaks down in Chicago anyway?" I think for a moment, I honestly don't know where I'm heading. I never planned that far ahead. "I don't know... around, I guess." I say shamefully. Her eyes' light up more than they were before. She picks up her bag and throws it at me. "Well, now you're going with me." She gets up from her seat, walking over and taking a seat in one that was closer to where I am sitting. "Ow!" I say removing her bag from my lap, placing it on the floor. "Going with you? What do you mean, where are you heading?" She smiles a big boxy smile, that is full of nothing but evil and determination. It creeps me out. She lowers her voice down to a whisper as she says. "I'm going to meet BTS."

I have been a fan of this band for roughly three years. I knew everything there was to know about them, but two girls like us could never meet them? Right? "Bullshit, green girl. You're not meeting BTS." I dismiss her previous statement as I swing my legs down to the floor so she would stop leaning over me. "No, really I am! You're going with me and you'll see for yourself." She says attempting to reassure me. I think to myself for a moment, then I look at those big green eyes. I let out a sigh as I say. "Screw it, what do I have to lose?" She turned to the side and pulled her arm to her stomach while loudly whispering. "YES!"

I look out my window, at the endless highway. All I can think about is that 'I'm more than likely not getting rid of her am I?' A slight grin crept across my face. For the first time in a long time, I'm happy. I have a destination. I'm taken aback as she rests her head on my legs; within a few minutes she's sound asleep. Never taking my eyes' off of the highway, I slowly drape my arm over her side and whisper. "What's your name?" I'm pretty positive that everything is going to be alright. At least for now.
