*David's POV*
Liza didn't say much the whole ride home, but then again I didn't really expect her to. I got her inside and helped her get settled into bed. I made sure that she was comfortable and put on a movie to keep her occupied while I went back to the college to get her car. I sprinted the short distance as fast as my legs would take me since I didn't want to leave her alone for long. I got the car and drove it back to her house, thankfully getting it all done without being seen by anyone who might question my mission.
I walked back up to her room and found her in the same position as I left her. I gave her a weak smile as I walked over to the bed.
"Do you want me to get you anything?" I ask as I look down at her, letting my hand gently stoke her curly locks.
"Can you just lay with me? Please?" She asks in a quiet voice. I nod my head and go around to the other side of the bed. As soon as I climb in she instantly rolls over, pressing the uninjured side of her face into my chest. I wrap my arms around her and go back to stroking her hair, occasionally stopping to place gentle kisses wherever I could.
"I called the school, told them what happened. They'll want to hear from you eventually, but I told them that you'd be staying home for the rest of the week, or at least until your face heals a bit and you feel better" I say quietly, earning a light sigh of relief from the girl in my arms. I knew that would bring her a little peace, knowing that she wouldn't have to face reality just yet.
"How did you know where I was" Liza asks after a few minutes of silence.
"Because that was the last place that i saw you - in the hallways by those bathrooms. When you were nowhere to be found, I just went back to the last place I could recall" I reply. I feel her smile against my chest.
"Thank you" she said softly as she drifted off to sleep. I let another smile spread across my face as I take in the sight of my baby peacefully sleeping on me. I said it before and I'll say it again, I absolutely love the fact that I can bring her such comfort by simply holding her. I would do anything for her. This girl has me wrapped around her tiny fingers, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I let my thoughts roam before finally letting sleep take me away as well.
(The next morning)
I wake up to Liza's 6am alarm blaring from across the room. I quickly reach over to shut it off, trying to be careful so that I don't wake her as she usually tends to sleep past the first few rings anyways.
As much as I want to call in and cuddle with Liza all day, I'm a new teacher and I knew I couldn't call in for a non-emergancy on my first week. Plus, it would be a bit suspicious if both Liza and I didn't show up on the same day, especially when a few students, other than Stacy, saw me helping Liza to the nurse. I sighed at the thought of leaving Liza home alone, but at least it was only for a couple of hours rather than the whole day.
I get up, slow and steady, trying not to move the bed too much. I then go through my usual routine - shower, get dressed, pack my lesson plans, and so on. Once I am all set I grab a piece of paper and write a quick note.
I'll be back as soon as class is over. Get some rest but text me if you need me. I love you Princess.
I walk over to Liza and prop the note up next to her phone. I then place a gentle kiss on her head before making my way out the door.
Once I arrive at the college I park in my usual spot and make my way to class. I walk through the door 5 minutes early so only a couple students are already there, while the others will most likely flood in on the dot. I make small talk with a couple of students to pass the time.
Once class begins I go through the student list to take attendance. I let out an inaudible sigh as I mark an excused absence next to Liza's name. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a grin spread across Stacy's face as she took note of Liza's absence. I bit back another sigh as I watched her. I know she's the one who punched Liza, I'm almost positive, but I have no official proof so I can't do anything about it.
The period dragged on and I thought the class would never end. I got through the lesson and called a free period for the last 30 minutes of the class. As the students moved around to chat and work, I sunk into my seat, occasionally checking my phone to see if Liza had texted me.
I tried to take comfort in the fact that I had no texts, meaning that she was probably still sleeping peacefully. I couldn't help but think of her in such a natural state. She usually sleeps on her stomach with one leg pulled up to her chest, one arm hanging off the side of the bed, her messy yet beautiful hair sprawled out across her pillow. It's such a peaceful sight. I let my mind wander for a bit as that was the next best thing to actually being there in person. But, sure enough, my personal daydream session was soon cut short.
"Hello professor" a familiar voice said, bringing me out of my thoughts. I let out yet another inaudible sigh as I lift my gaze to meet Stacy's as she stood in front of my desk.
"How can I help you" I respond, trying to keep a professional tone.
"I was wondering if you could tutor me again today. It's a shame that Liza isn't here to join us, but I could really use the help again" she says back with a wink.
"I'm sorry but I will not be able to tutor you today" I respond, earning me a quick groan and an eyeroll from the blonde girl, but she pulls herself back together quickly.
"We don't have to study. We could just...talk" she whispers, taking a step closer to me. I scoot my chair back in effort to maintain our previous distance.
"If I had time for talking then I would have time for tutoring, but today I do not have time for either" I respond with a mildly stern voice. She tired to give me some type of puppy dog eyes in hopes of me giving her my time, but that has absolutely no effect on me whatsoever. Before she could say anything else I looked at the time and thanked the heavens that period was over. I dismissed the class as I started to gather my papers as well as anything else that students handed me on their way out.
Once I was done packing I scanned the room and took comfort in the fact that I was alone. As I make my way to the door I am quickly stopped in my tracks as Stacy appears around the corner and blocks my path. I mentally roll my eyes as dealing with her is becoming quite the chore.
"Are you sure you sure you don't have any spare time today, Professor? I would really like for you to..teach me" she said as she lifted her hand and placed it on my chest, letting it trail down for a brief second before I pushed past her. I furrowed my brows at the persistent girl and tried to disregard the uncomfortable shiver that made it's way down my spine.
"Asking the same question numerous times will not make me change my answer. And I would appreciate it if you kept your hands to yourself" I snipped. I am still trying to be professional and respectful, no matter how badly I wanted to just say exactly what was on my mind. But I can't, at least not yet.
"Now if you would excuse me, I have private matters to handle. See you tomorrow" I say as a final statement before she could come up with anything else.
I made my way past her and made a straight shot for my car. I drove home, parked my car in my driveway and went next door to Liza's house. I let myself in with the key like I always do, climbed the stairs, and went straight into the arms of the only girl that I have ever, and will ever love.
